So, I have given some thought to it. Using GEVs and referring to the GEV map, it's a matter of choosing the cross over points. When approaching a stream, a GEV may not be able to maintain it's speed of 7 hexes per turn unless the stream is exactly four or seven hexes away. In my case, this was complicated by 'killed' city hexes and a few enemy units on the other side but out of strike range. (Two points for Mike for putting infantry where there is plenty of cover, and the fording slowed down the strike force making over- runs possible.) The forking of the stream on the west side is almost guaranteed to mess up your timing. When running up the river, in addition to the movement bonus, wherever you stop is a potential crossing point. This is effectively a non-barrier for GEVs. Todd A. Zircher ----- [It limits their flexibilty in launching attacks across a river (as compared with along it) and makes trees at the shoreline more of a nuisance. -HJC] ------------------------------ From: John Kovalic Subject: Ogre at GenCon By the way... GenCon didn't have quite all the Ogre action that it did last year. But was the fact that Steve was going to play a 10-against-one series of games on Sunday advertised? I'd have signed up if I had known it was going on, but come Sunday, I didn't have the time left. It was a great idea, and should be a centerpiece of next year's GenCon.
