============ OGRE/GEV list, Aug 26th (Last: Aug 24th) ============= ===== Critical Hits From: Sethkimmel@aol.com ===== GEV tournament From: Chris Camfield ------------------------------ From: Sethkimmel@aol.com Subject: Critical Hits HENRY, I think you're talking about the "Golden BB" article in Space Gamer. If so, I think I have it, and I can post it. Let me know if you need it. Seth ----- [Naw, it's not very high priority. -HJC] ------------------------------ From: Chris Camfield Subject: GEV tournament Board game being phased out? Oy. Is Ogre/GEV still available from SJG? Maybe I should buy a copy before they disappear for good... > [Yeah, but then you get seeding problems. Meaning, advanced and beginning players put together at the start, so that the advanced player gets an easy win? > Why not: Advanced Breakthrough, Advanced Ogre and Advanced Raid in that >order? There are two games at each level and each player must play a >different opponent at each step. (The players who played offense in the >first Breakthrough game play defense in the second Breakthrough game, but >against an opponent they haven't faced before.) Weeeeell... time. That's at least 6 consecutive games you're talking about, and given that I have no assurance that people will have experience in the game, at least a 9 hour event. That's too long. Or do you think I'm overestimating how long a game takes? (BRJ, "Blue Pariah") ----- [Then just use Breakthrough and Raid and do four games. The important point is to have each player play as many other players as quickly as possible, so the second best is very obvious. (Imagine the top two players face each other first and one gets eliminated as a result...) Good luck, even I can't get anything out of print from SJG and my local gamestore (Gamescape of SF) thinks that Pyramid went out of publication months ago. -HJC] Henry J.
