Garth L. Getgen ------------------------------ From: "Todd A. Zircher" Subject: V_MAP, a freeware PBEM aid V_MAP, a virtual mapping utility for PBEM gamers is available to the public. V_MAP is a generic bitmap overlay type program that currently runs under Windows (3.1/95/NT). The players get to use graphical maps and counters. The program saves the configuration and positions as a small text file. While V_MAP comes with maps and counters for games like OGRE and Deep Space Oblivion 6000, it isn't limited to just one game. It can read any bmp file and use it as a map or tileset*. V_MAP isn't a PBEM system/manager. It only allows players to view maps and place counters. Rules and such will still be needed to play whatever game you want. Good things about V_MAP are that it is free-ware and that all of the data files can be easily edited or new maps and tiles created. If you ever had your child/spouse/roomie accidentally trash your carefully laid out map, you can appreciate the electronic counterpart. The OGRE Destroyer's main gun should have an attack value of 31 once a turn and only for the purposes of OGRE critical hits. (Against other targets it only has an attack strength of 2, as it only tries to make one small hole in its target) It has a range of five hexes and is restricted to LLOS only (At 30 Km/S it only drops about two meters over that range). The gun has a considerable bulk and expense, and so the OGRE Destroyer comes out to: OGRE Destroyer, Cost 75 points. One Anti-Ogre gun (Attack 2**, Range 10", Defense 4) LLOS 4 AP (Attack 1, Range 4", Defense 1) 30 Tread Units as a Mark II, starting speed 6" ** Anti-OGRE gun counts as attack 31 for OGRE Critical hits only, one shot per turn. The history might mark this as a theoretical unit that the Combine never got around to producing.
