Henry,

I "solved" the FO problem by allowing units that COMBINE fire to all be
"in LOS" as long as one unit is.  If they're all "out" of LOS, then the
target gets the defense bonus.

I suppose you could make a case that if a unit is in LOS of the enemy, t
could call in the location for those units out of LOS --- but only if
said unit acting as a FO is NOT firing at someone else.  Rational: how
can I direct the howitzer's fire on a heavy tank if I'm busy shooting at
a GEV?  But if we're both firing at the heavy tank, no problem.

Hmmm ... perhaps if the FO isn't firing on anyone, it can direct fire at
more than one target???  I think I like this idea....

    [I don't.

    As demonstrated in the case of infantry defense, the major problem
on the battlefields of the future is targeting. (A Mark V is MUCH better
armored than a heavy tank, but the defense values of it's components is
comparable, because it's an easier target to spot.)

    If a LGEV could spot in half a dozen attacks, wouldn't it have the
capability of directing a much longer ranged attack of its own?  -HJC]
