Scott Orr ------------------------------ From: "Devir Livraria Ltda." Subject: List of Sci-Fi figures and terrain. Henry, I have a question, however. I've been compiling a list of all American and English sci-fi figure and terrain manufactures that I know of (together with stock numbers, descriptions and ordering info for most of them). I think it would be of some use to the folks on the OGRE board and would like to get it to them - it could be a good counterpart to the OGRE minis list you and Richard Meaden are compiling. Unfortunately this, too, was written up as a Word document. If necessary, I will rewrite the thing as an e-mail message, but it would be simpler to translate it over to a format you can easily use. Is there such a format, or should I just forget it and start typing? Thad ----- [Your word processor won't let you export as ASCII text?!? You've been trapped by your software vendor and can't escape? Did the fall of man happen already and everybody just forgot to tell me about it? -HJC] ------------------------------ From: "Mike Wikan" Subject: OGRE fiction. I am a member of a large web group that plays Many, Many games (Full Thrust, AOG's B5Wars Playtest, and currently OGRE/GEV!!) I am also the artist of record for AOG's Counter sets for the B5wars release. You seem to like SFB, so I imagine you will like B5Wars VERY much. I am currently writing a fictional account of the current OGRE battle on a turn by turn basis from the standpoint of an OGRE MK II. If you post such things on the newsgroup I wouldn't mind posting it when it is done. Also, I have a provisional set of Grav Armor rules and counter sets that I could post. Thanks Again, Mike Wikan Game Design\Conceptual Art n-Space, Inc. A Producer of 3D Entertainment Products ----- [While I am a fan of Grav Armor, I'm afraid I can't do anything with it until I pick up another copy. (Hey Steve, how's about picking up the rights on this one? It got a great review in Space Gamer...) Sure, send in whatever you like about OGRE and I'll see what I can do with it. -HJC] ------------------------------ From: garth.getgen@genie.com Subject: APC > Your vehicle is fairly close to the Marines LAAV, why not drop the > defense to one (thin skinned) and up the move to 8" with limited swim? Hmmm, perhaps. But the "A" in APC stands for ARMORED -- the idea being to not only increase the movement range of Infantry, but also protect them. However, you did give me an idea (or two): Amphibious Tanks. For one additional VP, allow Lt Tanks (and the above mentioned APC based on the Lt Tank frame) to swim thru water at 2 movemont points per hex. They'll still be able to fire, as will the Infantry riding on top. But the Infantry riding inside the APC cannot disembark (opening the doors will flood and sink the vehicle!!). > "Starship trooper" pods pop up over the horizon, launched by a mass > driver way behind the lines. As each pod clears the horizon it is > engaged by a laser tower... Ouch!! Hadn't thought of it that way. Guess the Belly-snappers need a good ECM package. How about this: pick the hex you want to land in, roll a d6 and see if they make it: 1-2 == lands in the hex, 3-5 == scatters 1 or two hexs away (another die roll), 6 == enough of the pods are destroyed (either by laser fire or impact) to eliminate the squad as a valid fighting unit. Garth L. Getgen ----- [Wouldn't any ECM that worked for a pod with a man inside work even better if there was just a bomb inside? As for APCs, most don't carry enough armor to keep out a pair of rabid hamsters. The problem is that infantry is bulky and you pay for armor by surface area. "We are not Hamsters. We are a pair of genetically altered lab mice out to take over the world." "Gee Brain, do you think that OGREs are afraid of mice, in the same way that elephants are?" -HJC] Henry J.
