============ OGRE/GEV list, Oct 25th (Last: Oct 18th) ============= ===== Shockwave copies From: Kirk Hunt ===== Thinking about PBEM From: "Jonathan L. McCaleb" ===== Simultaneous movement From: ND ------------------------------ From: Kirk Hunt Subject: Shockwave copies Hi. Long time no see. Have you completely dropped SFB? Do you have any line on a copy of Shockwave? If I bought the Minitures book, would that get me the "rules coverage" for LGEV's and Millitia? How can we get SJG to re-release OGRE/GEV-Shock? Kirk huntk@alliedsignal.com ----- [(What's SFB? :-) Minis is very nearly a superset of OGRE/GEV/Shock with a few other things thrown in, but recast in a new framework. Both LGEVs and Militia are included. (Militia move one half hex a turn in GEV terms). -HJC] ------------------------------ From: "Jonathan L. McCaleb" Subject: Thinking about PBEM hello I'm thinking about trying to start and PBEM game. Never done this before, with Ogre, that is, although my Dad and trie to play another game by Snail mail about 20 years ago. Very slow goin, but we manage to complete a few games. We set a deadline for doing our turns, and subtracted victory points for going over. Also, we trusted one another to make the die rolls and state the results. Anyway, looking forward to being on the list again. Thanks Jonathan L. McCaleb nonalias@swbell.net ----- [Take a look at: http://www.sjgames.com/ogre/board/ for PBEM discussion -HJC] ------------------------------ From: ND Subject: Simultaneous movement The way I had it figured is that non-moving units would always have the chance for opportunity fire by forgoing actions when their chits came up. So an all-GEV platoon could move seven hexes and defenders would be able to fire as they approached. It would be a nice bit of chrome at, I think, little expense in playability. Chit mix could vary, but my initial idea is to allow only one chit/organization (platoon probably) plus, perhaps a discretionary chit that might allow reserves to be released, reinforcements, perhaps a second impulse to a unit already moved. Note, this would give a designer an opportunity to make the force compositions less generic, that is TO&Es for Combine and Paneuropean units. ----- [Sounds like a lot of paperwork, remembering which of my units had aborted during the enemy phase. -HJC] Henry J.
