Given the number of tank type, real time strategy games that have come out, it's a very real possibility. > [First read: http://www.sjgames.com/general/online_policy.html -HJC] Henry is right about this. Also, follow the link to the gm-aid-license section. While it's not exactly the type of license that you would need, it gives you an idea of what would be required. Steve Jackson wrote: > > Micah has moved on...please send these reports to kellyrs@io.com now. So, all those Director of Licensing mailto links need to be updated. It's safe to say that a commercial grade program is required if you want to get a license and market it (free or otherwise). It's definately the kind of project that I wouldn't mind volunteering time and talent for. But, this is straying a bit from the OGREverse topic. Feel free to drop me a line if you want to talk about this in detail. Todd Zircher (zirto@indepth.com) ------------------------------ From: Chris Camfield Subject: This grunt on a hot tin box... Is stepping off of the tin box, and hopefully onto the battlefield. Is anyone up for a PBeM game? "I've had dinner with the devil, and I know nice from right" (BRJ) ----- [Ah comeon, just because the PBEM message board hasn't gotten a new posting since September doesn't mean it's dead. -HJC] ------------------------------ From: SFsupply Subject: Ogre Macrotures The game/comic/hobby shop that I work at as a 2nd job (Enterprise 1701 - Sci- Fi City) will soon be moving to a new location with nearly 9,000 sq ft. of space. The store will be devoting about 1,000 sq ft. to it's in-store gaming area. (An area larger than many stores entire retail space!) The significance of this to Ogre fans is that the store will have the famous(?) "Ogre Macrotures" stored there, and will be running events with them on a regularly scheduled basis. For those of you who haven't heard: Ogre "Macrotures" are the result of a band of nuts called Sci-Fi Supply with entirely too much time on their hands earlier this decade. They (the macrotures) consist of a set of 1/35th scale models of the Ogres and armor units of the Ogre universe. The models were hand crafted out of plastic, resin and wood, then resin copies were made from RTV molds of the first models. Steve Jackson gave permission for the models to be taken to conventions so that we could run games with them. For those of you who have been to Gencon any of the last three years, you've probably already seen them. For those that haven't, the set currently includes: 2 x Mark V Ogres 15 x GEVs 9 x Heavy Tanks 8 x Light Tanks 6 x Missile Tanks 4 x Howitzers The set also includes infantry converted from Grenadier's Space Ranger line for the Powered Armor infantry and appropriately sized buildings and other scenery to play the game with. The Ogres are Combine. The armor and half the infantry are Paneuropean. The Ogres are nearly 3 feet long and almost 2 feet high (at the sensor tower.) The rest of the models range from 7 to 11 inches long. It takes a 20 ft. x 40 ft. area to play the game on a scale similar to the original Ogre map. The scale is drawn straight from the Ogre Miniatures book with 1 inch now equalling 1 foot. The store's move to the new site is scheduled for the last week of May. It will probably be about a month before we're settled in enough to start a regular gaming schedule. I will drop a note here when Ogre Macrotures goes on the schedule. Next time you are in Orlando Florida, look us up and I will be happy to run a game for you! (Henry, as soon as Enterprise's website gets it's gaming pages up with scanned photos of Ogre Macrotures during games, I will send you our address so that you can provide a link if you want.) flunky ----- [I don't see myself providing a big page of links on OGRE stuff. I'd like to leave that to SJG, as they seem to be doing a better job at that than I am. -HJC] Henry J.
