I like this idea. Anyone fancy an OGRE PBEM duel using these rules and VMAP ? ----- [As the chance of stopping a short-range shot is rather slim, the effect of this rule is to give the OGRE the extra option of a (somewhat risky) long range shot. I.e., it's a free lunch. I suggest the Advanced OGRE scenario with LROM, but add a Laser Tower to the defender's forces. (As usual, a missile a turn keeps the heat off the treads. Use the counter for a tower of balance %-) Note that a single missile impact will make the laser's day. ("Go ahead punk, do you feel lucky?") As for a duel of OGREs with long range missiles, as a range 6 shot has only a 23 percent chance of getting through 2 mains and 6 secondaries and the odds get much worse at distance, but a fencer is fairly defenseless. Another thing I've thought of is to make the OGRE missile phase fall between the OGRE's move and (gun) fire phases so as not to allow the OGRE to punch holes with the secondaries to send the missiles through. -HJC] Henry J.
