Prisoners in The Last War - It would vary, just as in most wars, and would depend largely on the morale of the capturing troops and the time since the last perceived atrocity! Game Design book - No, I still have hardcopy, though I very much doubt that a text file exists. The problem is, I consider the VERY obsolete. Some of what it says is now wrong. But there is so much MORE to say; the world has changed. Maybe someday. It is on a list, just not a priority list. Fnord. ------------------------------ From: "Andrew Walters" Subject: Penetrators & LOS Well, Henry, you kinda sorta applied tomorrow's defenses to today's weapons. By then the shells will be able to launch high at very fast velocities, look down to ID and lock their targets, and fire the second stage without even slowing down. Heck, little controlled fins connected to a CPU also connected to the tracking detectors would let it *dodge* while still looking at the originally intended target area. Its not that hard to imagine, its just sort of a miniaturized Maverick missle, a little smarter, and a lot faster. The better the detectors, the faster and lower it can go, making it harder hitting and more accurate. Like a discard sabot round, all this smarts gets left behind when the second stage gets fired, so when it comes down its all spent-uranium, baby. Besides, technology progresses at the rate Steve says it does. I want to see the new CRT, I'm toying with a short story set around the beginning of that time. ----- [Terrain effects should go way up. Have you ever used APs to kill a stack of "terrorist" infantry in a friendly city hex? -HJC] ----- From: Chris Camfield Subject: Penetrators & LOS > [And while that parachute-shell is hanging up there and lining up on >the target it'll be shot down or jammed, no? -HJC] Who said it would have to stay up there all that long? If jump infantry can zoom across several klicks of terrain without getting shot down, a parachute-shell, or a self-correcting rocket-propelled munition (travelling much faster) would do okay.
