============ OGREverse list, Mar 17th (Last: Mar 15th) ============= ===== Trading Post on the Boards? From: fish ===== Scout Tank From: Chris Camfield ------------------------------ From: fish Subject: Trading Post on the Boards? > [Mr Flowers seems to have been rebooted lately. Maybe we can all ask > him to add a Trading Post to the Message Boards page? You could. Does this sound like a good idea to anyone else? Makes sense, although it has to be said the Message Boards get fairly little traffic... I'll see what I can do. Fish Flowers ------------------------------ From: Chris Camfield Subject: Scout Tank I was just browsing the SJG Ogre page and looking at the list of unofficial units, being surprised to see some of my own designs there. Looking at the "Scout Tank" design there, I agreed with Fish Flower's assessment of it as potentially game-breaking (move of 4, range of 4? gross!). It still seems to me that there could be a use for a fast tread-based unit for heavily forested areas, so I propose the following more reasonable design. Actually, I'm sure this is similar to any number of "Fast Tank" designs... Scout Tank D2 M4 (as heavy) 3/2 The formula gives a cost of 5. A version with attack strength of only 2 would cost 4. One extra point for a light tank which can move 4 and charge through forests is interesting... I forget who designed it, but I like the idea of the anti-infantry GEV. Such a unit could be very helpful in "Breakthrough" situations! Chris Chris Camfield - ccamfield@cyberus.ca Big Rude Jake Fan Club President Visit the Big Rude Page at "http://www.bigrudejake.com"! (Don't worry, it's on again next Sunday and Monday. See: http://www.discovery.com/sched/domestic/discovery/discovery.html) It's got the cruise missile, the crab minesweeper and lots about the Japanese effort to build a robotic nanny, the Santa Fe Institute crowd and the insect like robots, also robotic fish. -HJC] Henry J.
