From: Jpattern@aol.com ===== Blinding the beast From: Chris Camfield ------------------------------ From: Tron Subject: Email games and TO&E counting 1 .Anyone on the list want to play OGRE by Email ? I'm willing to GM. I'd like to use LOS rules. 2. Has anyone done any TO&E for the OGREverse ? many thanks, :Den Cyberdruss@Clara.net "See that Warrior? One hundred and ten wins, no losses." (I'd snatch it up quick, just in case. ;-) -HJC] ------------------------------ From: "William Spencer" Subject: The Henry Formula I just re-read the "Henry Formula" on the ~hcobb site, and realized that it is really basic - although provision was made for units with alternate limited shots (missile pack GEVs and such), there's no rules (or even suggestions) that I see for other situations, like multiple guns (Superheavy Tank), lasers, special defenses or combat ratings (Infantry in cover, in overrun, against AP guns), or the like. Any ideas (beyond the time-tested "make up some numbers and play-test" method, that is...) would be helpful, please. Off the top of my head, for lasers I suggest, oh, halving the range for the calculations or something (since lasers have long range, but only in LLOS and no spillover...oops, I forgot anti-missile effects. Maybe leave lasers alone, um?) ----- [Did you see: http://www.io.com/~hcobb/gev/infantry.htm ? -HJC] ------------------------------ From: Jpattern@aol.com Subject: Artwork for MkI, MKII, etc? I requested artwork for MkI, MkII, MkVI, etc., and Henry wrote: >>You've seen http://www.clark.net/pub/nyrath/ogre.html I take it?<< Yep, I had seen Winchell's site, but I had forgotten that he had the drawing of the MkVI on there. And I like the ideas for the Japanese OGREs, too. I like the idea of using the RP Battletech Puma as a MKII. Just needs a conning tower and sensor ball, easy to scratch. I might also replace the weapons with more OGRE-esque ones: http://204.91.84.77/cgi-bin/RalPartha/20635.html?426 For the MkI, I was thinking of modifying the RP Battletech Rhino. Again, just needs a conning tower (lose the turret) and some weapon swaps: http://204.91.84.77/cgi-bin/RalPartha/20647.html?426 Now, the MKVI, that's gonna be a piece of work. I'll save that till the long, cold days of winter. Same with the Japanese OGRE. Thanks for the suggestions, Henry. Still, though, any chance of Steve getting Winchell (or someone else) to sketch some "official" 3-views of all the OGRE marks and variants, all to the same scale, and post them on the website? Now *that* would be a great resource, and it would make experimenting with paint schemes easier. Just print out the 3-view, get out the Crayolas, and see what develops. Then, 3-views of all the armor variants released to-date . . . Then again, maybe I'll get out the ol' drafting equipment and give it a go. Jeff Moore jpattern@aol.com ----- [According to OGRE minis, the Mk III was the first OGRE to trade the main turret for a tower. Combining the two on the same tank would be an interesting design decision. (THUNK!) -HJC] ------------------------------ From: Chris Camfield Subject: Blinding the beast I like the idea of being able to target the Ogre tower, but the gameplay implications of -1 range to guns are pretty big. (For the same reason that the old Fuzzy Wuzzy article advocated reducing the Ogre's speed by 1.) I'd agree with reducing missile range by 1 or even 2 though...
