Now *that* would be a great > resource, and it would make experimenting with paint schemes easier. Just > print out the 3-view, get out the Crayolas, and see what develops. I'd love to do it, but alas, I won't have the free time for the forseeable future. There is another gentleman named Mike Naylor who actually can draw Ogre material better than I can (...for now...) He specializes in side and plan views of various vehicles. Unfortunately I've lost Mr, Naylor's email address. Perhaps Richard Meaden knows it. Here's why... Taking out the tower is completely logical. Ever since Odysseus blinded Polyphemus's only eye tacticians have aimed for the soft part of the target that will disable the whole thing. This leads me to beileve that if the tower contained a significant part of the Ogre's sensory suite we would have been shooting at it for twenty years now. There are no rules for targeting the power plant or the brain because its not cost effective. In the same way I believe the trade off between difficulty and effect of targetting the tower doesn't pay off. Additionally, if taking out the tower, even if its D4, reduces the range of all the other weapons, we're going to need to play test that pretty thoroughly, because all the other weapon ranges are balanced against that of the armor units. But here's the real reason: It feels wrong. This is admittedly irrational, but I'm not in any position to deny being an irrational guy so I might as well indulge. The Ogre has a very distinctive feel to it when its bearing down on you, and taking out weapons and treads certainly reduces its capabilities, but it does not reduce its resolve, or its intimidation factor. Its never weak, never hurting, never pauses to gather strength. I don't want to think of it as coming in blind and hurt. Just doesn't feel right. I said it was irrational. Perhaps the suggesting of tracing LOS over obstacles from the body instead of the tower after the tower's been eliminated is the best compromise, but I still think Polyphemus is not nearly as scary to a bronze age hero as a Mark V is to two companies of armor. ------------------------------ From: "William Spencer" Subject: Random2 HJC: Yes, I did see the Infantry page - it was a little deep, but I'll go back and go through it more carefully... To Jpattern: the Mark I is described as half again the size of a Heavy Tank in Ogre Minis. I imagine it with a ball turret (like the "eyes" on the Mark V) in front, a small sensor tower to the rear, and 2 AP guns on each side. A teeny little guy, would almost be cute if it weren't trying to kill you...I did some sketches of the other Ogres...if you want to see them, I'll try to find a scanner somewhere. Again to HJC: I see you run some FanFiction pages in addition to the OGREverse List. What about Ogre-verse Fan-Fiction? ----- [OGRE Minis, page 10: "The Mark III was the first Ogre designed from the ground up. ... It was turretless and articulated; the trademark "tower" was capable of folding back..." If I do anything with Ogre fanfics it would most likely be a xover with "Tank Police". (This shows up saturday mornings on the Sci-Fi channel every so often.) Next time on Geraldo, giant robotic tanks and the women that love them. -HJC] ------------------------------ From: OHara Walter Subject: Email games > From: Tron > 1 .Anyone on the list want to play OGRE by Email ?
