============ OGREverse list, Feb 13th (Last: Feb 11th) ============= ===== Battlesuit Minis From: Servitor@aol.com From: Sethkimmel@aol.com ===== Militia Armor From: Preston Gustine ------------------------------ From: Servitor@aol.com Subject: Battlesuit Minis << I was wondering if anyone had tried to convert this game to miniatures >> Although we haven't done Battlesuit, we did make 3-D models of all the basic Ogre vehicles for use in "Ogre Macrotures" (basically in 1/35 scale.) We used Grenadier's "Space Rangers" boxed plastic set for our powered armor troops. Although Grenadier is now out of business, you might still be able to find a box or two laying about. (You would only need one box of 'em. They're like 25 per box if memory serves correctly.) best, flunky ----- From: Sethkimmel@aol.com Subject: Battlesuit Minis there was a company out of Salt Lake City that made some nice prototype Battlesuit minis, but the company went bust before the minis went into production...:-( . I also have Battlesuit. It's a good game, and if you ever vacation in Las Vegas, look me up for some gaming that won't cost you any money...:-) Seth ------------------------------ From: Preston Gustine Subject: Militia Armor Militia and powered armor. Nope have to disagree about lightweight PA for Militia. Begin a long time BATTLESUIT player I can safely say that the grunts for militia would have to be the non-PA troop counters. As for PA being Spec-Ops, right on the back of the box it does say that the PA guy is regular line trooper for the time period. ----- [What is this, the Battlesuit list? Very well, in order to handle an OGRE overrun in Battlesuit, you'll need to distinguish between targets that are hard to hit and targets that are difficult to damage. I don't think that an OGRE main battery has much of a chance of actually hitting a grunt, armored or otherwise, but everytime that gun fires lots of grunts go up in the fireball. On the othertread, an OGRE is so well armored that only direct hits have any chance of getting through. How about rolling accuracy vs ECM to land a hit, then penetration vs armor to determine the effect? Trees add a lot more to ECM than armor and AP guns are point effect weapons with high accuracy and limited penetration. GURPS, with the emphasis on hand to hand combat, doesn't really scale to handle duels with nuclear weapons. We already know the odds, more or less, a AP gun has a 5/6th chance of killing 4-6 battlesuits in the open each fire phase, while the odds against militia are 100% On the other hand, each battlesuit has only a one in twenty four chance of taking out a OGRE main battery. -HJC] Henry J.
