============ OGREverse list, Mar 14th (Last: Mar 4th) ============= ===== Ogre Minis From: Wil ===== How it all began From: Steve Jackson ------------------------------ From: Wil Subject: Ogre Minis I was told that Ogre Miniatures was OOP. The only thing really is that I'm not much of a miniatures player :( Thanks anyway! "Nihilistic mystics, apostolic alcoholics, messianic manics, cataclysmic and prolific...In the age of super-boredom, hype and mediocrity, celebrate relentlessness, menace to society" - KMFDM, "Megalomaniac" Visit Warp & Weft: A Resource for Tribe 8 at http://www.keyway.net/~sinner/warp.htm ----- [www.sjgames.com claims to have the book in stock and it does include some rules on board play. (Not enough really. I wish that Steve would include a hex conversion section if he ever reprints or at least put the rules for Minis on a board on a website.) -HJC] ------------------------------ From: Steve Jackson Subject: How it all began Howard Thompson originated the Microgame idea. He asked me if I thought I could design a game with counters fitting on a 4x7 sheet, a map on a legal sized sheet of paper, and short rules. I said "Sure" and brought him Ogre the next week. Of course, it then got playtested a lot :-) And it sold very well, and he asked me to do more, and I did. I was never an employee - always freelance, though for a while under exclusive contract. I didn't buy out Metagaming when it went away -- I had bought back Ogre and GEV before then, and they're the only originally-Metagaming games I reprinted. Steve Jackson - yes, of SJ Games - yes, we won the Secret Service case Learn Web or die - http://www.sjgames.com/ - dinosaurs, Lego, Kahlua! The heck with PGP keys; finger for Geek Code.
