============ OGREverse list, Nov 29th (Last: Nov 24th) ============= ===== Battletech Minis From: bryan rombough ===== Ogre mini rulebook and some miniatures for sale From: bryan rombough From: Steve Jackson ------------------------------ From: bryan rombough Subject: Battletech Minis Adrian Dillon wrote: > > How about a selective eval of the suitability of > Battletech(tm) minatures for use in Ogre Mini's? Personally, I never much cared for the mechanical designs from Battletech, very ugly and poorly thought out(I have a hard time imagining most of them being able to move, let alone fight). The new "Demolisher II" mini though could stand in for a Superheavy tank -twin cannon on a boxy turret and two small(AP size) guns on the hull. The new 1/144 scale Heavy Gear mini's however could probably pass as 1/285 scale mecha with just a little work. > Come to think of it what about Ogre Stats > for Battletech(tm)? I would like to see a few of > those snooty Mechwarriors(tm) flattened under tread! Do you mean converting OGRE's to Battletech stats(shudder) or rules for mecha in OGRE? If the former, I don't want to think about it(I have issues w/B'tech). If the latter, have you checked out the OGRE Mecha article at the SJGames OGRE site ? I thought it worked quite well. I'm tempted to go there sometime, but that would mean going to Alberta, the province that instituted a eugenics program. Bryan ----- From: Steve Jackson Subject: Ogre mini rulebook and some miniatures for sale > [SJGames has a webpage that skips over the Battletech line in the >search for alternative minis. Do we really? That is bogus. Maybe somebody can offer an update. I thought that at least my own note was on there - that a very good Paneuropean LGEV can be created by taking the little Battletech hover unit, the Savannah Master, and drilling the front to put in a gun. I have a BUNCH of those . . . >From: Dave Flitton >Subject: Bid for Ogre miniatures > >Once in a while you can bid for Ogre Minis, rules and the like on E-Bay. All stories to the contrary are bogus. Distant early warning . . . when we get the Pyramid game auction set up, I'll drop a lot of my personal stash of unpainted Ogre lead into it just to get things going. Distant early warning II -- I would not do this if I didn't really think we'd eventually have the miniatures in production again, someday . . . To compensate, I'll click over to a certain online bookstore and order my copy of "Killing Zone" now. (Just kidding. Don't click that button, the web has enough problems with W2K w/o adding in orders for phantom products.) "How I Found Goddess, and What I Did to Her When I Found Her" Hmmm... -HJC] Henry J.
