============ OGREverse list, June 12th (Last: May 28th) ============= ===== I...want to G.E.V. all nite, and OGRE every day... From: Servitor@aol.com ===== Deluxe Ogre (?) From: "Wray Odom" ===== Rogues Gallery From: "Paul & Lynette" ===== The problem of balance From: "Herb Diehr" ------------------------------ From: Servitor@aol.com Subject: I...want to G.E.V. all nite, and OGRE every day... << Except that is the day they scheduled the room for Lego Pirates, so all we know is that they are disorganized as usual. A clarification has been requested. >> I talked to Steve and two of the DragonCon organizers. Then checked the updated schedule. OGRE Macrotures will now be on Friday (June 30th) for a total of four (4) four-hour sessions. That is, unless there is a change, OGRE Macrotures will run all day. Here is a link to the DragonCon schedule if you want to check it out: Dragon*Con Gaming Event: OGRE MacroturesEvent Description Hope to see some of you guys there! best, flunky (John H. Servitor@aol.com ------------------------------ From: "Wray Odom" Subject: Deluxe Ogre (?) The Official Ogre web page FAQ says there are plans for a new Deluxe Ogre with a "very different format". Any hope of finding more out about this; what will be the format, should I wait for the deluxe version over the current offering( yes, I know you would like me to buy both), etc. If you don't know the answer, could you direct me to someone who does? ------------------------------ From: "Paul & Lynette" Subject: Rogues Gallery G'day All, I'm compiling a section on my PanPacific webpage with anybody's pics of OGRE Miniatures that they like to contribute....a sort of "Rogue's Gallery" if you will. OGREs, INF or any vehicle types welcome. The idea is to at least initially show them individually (for those who may not have a website but wish to show their stuff)but the main concept is to cut out the minis and put them into a collage like the "Combat Photography" section already on my site. Any suggestions for stirring Battle Scenes are also welcomed ! If you want to see your OGREs and OGREverse vehicles battling it out with those of other list members, please reply Offlist and let me know. Pics accepted in basically any format but preference is for jpeg. I have 4 submissions already and the more the merrier ! Regards from the Antarctic Disputed Zone... Paul O'Grady PanPac Strategic HQ, Sydney Australia http://panpacific.homestead.com/Home.html ------------------------------ From: "Herb Diehr" Subject: The problem of balance There is a pair of problems surrounding Ogre, currently. 1. Tanks of any sort, including Ogres, are being out-gunned by GEV's and their kin. 2. Militia are absurdly useful. This is making a nice, simple game of combined arms and heavy weapons into a real predictable type of game, with lots of little things running around and Ogres no longer ruling the battlefield. To fix this, I propose a couple of things. 1. LGEV's cannot make a second move if they fire and are vulnerable to AP. 2. Militia units cannot move or be carried. This should make things work somewhat better. Oh, light tanks should be vulnerable to AP, also... Herb Diehr ----- [Actually, it's those strange new Superheavies that most threaten Heavy Tanks these days. (Though I see Superheavies taking on many of the roles that Missile Tanks have filled also). The new Shockwave may make more of a difference to tactics than OGRE Minis, but I'm willing to wait and see how things shake out. As for Militia, if they were simply limited to covered transport then all would be well, for the most part. -HJC] Henry J.
