From: Dave Morse ===== superheavies vs "the train" From: Dave Morse ===== Killing Zone From: Aerron Winsor From: Servitor@aol.com ============================== From: AvaheilDotter@aol.com Subject: Kamikazi GEVs << Kamikaze GEV! While reading through GURPS OGRE, I noticed that the warhead for the Ogre Rattler missile is lighter than the main gun on the LGEV. So why not mount that warhead on the front of a LGEV and drive that shaped nuclear charge into a point blank ramming attack? >> Somewhere I saw a film talking about future war and it had little RCV's that mounted a LAW missile. About the size of those plastic cars young children ride, but well able to take out light armor or any other vehical. Replace the launcher with a satchel charge for breeching work... ===== [The problem is that remote controls are always jammed, so every projectile in the OGREverse is either ballistic or self guided. Hence the advantage of having a human at the controls all the way to impact. -HJC] ============================== From: Dave Morse Subject: Re: Play Ogre Online! Has anyone actually gotten around to playing online Ogre within the IOL site? What was it like? (see thread started June 6 for cryptic reference) ============================== From: Dave Morse Subject: superheavies vs "the train" I've been having trouble in "the train". Can anyone suggest a promising defence against this offense: (hope you're reading mail in a fixed font) \ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ . . . . \___ . .~~~~~~.~~.~~~~~~.~~. \ ~~~~~~####~~~~~~~~~~~ . . . . \___ .~~.#.~~.~~~~~~. ffff \~~~~~####~~~~~~~~~~~ . .ffffff. . .~~.~\___~. .~~~~~~.~~. ffff ffff ~~~~~~~~~~\####~~~~~~~~~~~ fffff. . .~~.~~~~~~.~~.[[01]].~~.~~~~~~. ffff ~~~~~~~~~~~#### ####\####~~~~~~ . . . .~~~~~~.~~.. .[[02]].~~. ~~~~~~#### #### #### ####\#### . . .~~.#. .######. .#L___#. ~~~~~~#### #### #### /####\ . . . .~~~~~~. .######. . ___/ . . ~~~~~~ #### / . . .~~. . . ___/ . . . ~~~~~~ / ~~~~ .~~.~~~~~~. . ___/ . . . . ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ / .~~.~~~~~~.~~. ___/ . . . . . ~~~~~~~~~~~ / . .~~~~~~.~~. / . . . . . . ~~~~~ | .~~.. |. . . . . . ~~~~~~#### ##|# . .~~~~~~.~~.###|##. . . . . . ffff~~~~~~~~~~~##|# fffff.~~.~~~~~~. |. . . . . . GEVs should screen the MHWZ river crossing, then harass the flanks. Reinforcements take advantage of their delayed arrival by being the Right Thing: if its shaping up into a meatgrinder, get more SHVYs; if raiding possibilities exist, get more GEVs. ============================== From: Aerron Winsor Subject: Killing Zone >From: "Paul Chapman" >I've got a copy, and I've read through most of it. Any clues to EEeeeeee.... sorry, don't even have mine anymore. Probably the old S & S guys had 'em. I can try to reconstruct my own notes and send them to you if you like. But I won't be able to tackle that until after Dragon Con. Speaking of which, time slots for OGRE Macrotures at Dragon Con are finally set. I will be running THREE games of OGRE Macros there! Here are the time slots: Friday: 6pm - 10pm, "Get the CP". 2 MK Vs against over 250pts of armor and 20 platoons of INF defending the command post. Sunday: 1pm - 5pm, "Ceasefire Collapse". Each side gets 125pts of armor, 12 platoons of INF and a MK V OGRE. Both sides get destroyed units back as "reinforcements". Winning side is determined by VP levels at end of session. Monday: 9am - 1pm, "Raid". Attacker gets 12 GEVs to destroy as many targets as they can on the Defender's side of the play area. Defenders have only a handful of units, but get reinforcements every turn! IMPORTANT NOTE: If at least 2/3rds of the players request a different scenario than the one listed, I will go along with it. Looking forward to seeing some of you guys here on the list at Dragon Con! ===== [What I would most like to see next is a cleaned up version of the OGRE Minis rulebook that includes the rules for the boardgame and marks clearly the differences between the two. With that as a base, then release the Killing Zone book and follow this up with a boardgame supplement with maps and counters sufficent to play all the scenarios from Ogre Minis and Killing Zone. What I don't want to see is a Penguin Obsessed Ogre :-) "The target thinks it's Tux. Your mission is to silence it before it reveals its source code to the world and blows a hole the size of Finland in operational security." -HJC] Henry J.
