The Cossack is its little brother - but it still packs a punch. This set adds 72 points to your Ogre Miniatures force. #10-2204 ISBN 1-55634-489-9. $19.95 -- Keith Johnson ------------------------------ From: Sethkimmel@aol.com Subject: And the winner is? Has there been a winner announced yet for the Ogre scenario design contest? ------------------------------ From: "Joshua Megerman" Subject: Possible Errata for Ogre Battlefields I think I found a typo in Ogre Battlefields. In the Scenario "A Bridge Too Near" (S-3), the second paragraph in the basic setup reads ". The attacker gets a further 16 armor units...". I believe that this should be the Defender, as the attacking forces haven't been listed yet, and the defender is the one waiting for reinforcements... I don't know if you're the best person to send this to, but there's no e-mail address for anyone better... :) Please let me know if I'm right, and/or if this has been mentioned before. Thanks, Josh ============================== From: White Rat Subject: 4HD: the Four-Howitzer Defense, Revisited > From: Stephan Beal > As for the defenders, though, I must still say: MBs/Missiles (your > choice), then treads - FORGET the SBs. In this setup the Ogre normally > doesn't get to use them so much, so they're not critical. I have noticed that very, VERY few people ever shoot for AP. Just for grins and giggles, I have tried it a few times. The Tread Ripper's Society becomes MUCH more effective when the OGRE must divert heavy weapons to deal with them, and AP guns are far and away the easiest thing to take out on an OGRE (including treads, yes). The OGRE cannot automatically reduce infantry by running over them if it has no AP guns. There are hundreds of ways to skin an OGRE... Ratty ===== From: AvaheilDotter@aol.com Subject: 4HD: the Four-Howitzer Defense, Revisited << Defender detup: 6 HWZ, 8 MSLs, 30 Infantry. CP in the top, right corner. HWZ are set up largely like in the earlier article: a roughly diamond-shaped area near the center. The two extra HWZs can be placed whereever you like, basically. I put one on the far right of the board and one about 9 or 10 hexes from the right side and 4 or 5 hexes from the rear edge. >> I presume you are restricting yourself to the original game and counter mix, thus no use of MHWZ. Under those conditions, I would replace the extra 2 HWZ with 4 additional MSL so as to harrass him better. While a HWZ is always guaranteed 1 shot, proper placement and movement of the MSL can counteract this. Particularly as the MK5 has enough missles to burn 2-3 blowing away HWZ. Note that the Ogre gan get into a position where it can fire 1 missle at a HWZ (range 5) and a MB at another (range 3), covering a 8hex wide area... Ad Astra! Stan Leghorn ============================== From: "(v)ister (v)cKnight" Subject: Ogre Future Has anyone thought of what Ogre units would exist if we pushed the timeline up 50 years? Also, did anyone read "Bolo Rising" by William H. Keith, Jr & Keith Laumer? That book was a blast. I read it when The Matrix came out and the movie really complemented the book. I'm about to re-read it. I also see on Amazon that a new one "Bolo Strike" is slated for Sept 01 in hardback form from the same two people...it ought to be good! JM ============================== From: Bob Crawford Subject: Swiss bicycle troopers... > From: Shadowjack > > From: "David R. FWIW, the Swiss bicycle troops has now been formally disbanded. I heard NPR interview their C.O. 2pla months ago. ============================== [Apparently they haven't been working me hard enough, so I'm being sent overseas to manage a sweatsho--- programming team. Starting with the last week of June I'm afraid that I'll be a bit less reliable than usual. (But I'll be back by October.) The alternative is to use a more automated list management system. -HJC] Henry J.
