From: webmaster@sjgames.com ===== 4HD: the Four-Howitzer Defense, Revisited From: Stephan Beal ===== Overseas From: "Herb Diehr" ============================== From: webmaster@sjgames.com Subject: [sjgames-illuminator] Play Ogre Online! SJ Games Daily Illuminator ( http://www.sjgames.com/ill/ ) June 5, 2001: Play Ogre Online! -------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew Walters has created an Ogre ( http://www.sjgames.com/ogre/products/ogregev ) area within the Pyramid ( http://www.sjgames.com/pyramid/ ) Chat Room. If you've ever played Ogre ( http://www.sjgames.com/ogre/products/ogregev ) by e-mail, this is even better. It not only gives you instant response, it will also resolve attacks, keep track of your Ogre record sheets, and provide reference tables. Now in beta test, the new Ogre ( http://www.sjgames.com/ogre/products/ogregev ) rooms let you play the game of cybernetic tanks in the cybernetic world. One optional rule that works particularly well with computer moderation is hidden Ogre damage: the results of an attack can be reported only to the Ogre's owner, leaving the defender in the dark about just how many tread units are left... Each player will need their own rules, map, and counters. The computer does the rest. -------------------------------------------------------------- Warehouse 23 (http://www.warehouse23.com) News: New Ogre Miniatures! Another batch of individual Ogre minis is up for grabs, including the Ogre Mark III ( http://www.warehouse23.com/item.cgi?SJG10-0103 ), the Yankee Light Tank ( http://www.warehouse23.com/item.cgi?SJG10-0208 ), and Combine Heavy Infantry ( http://www.warehouse23.com/item.cgi?SJG10-0215 ). ============================== From: Stephan Beal Subject: 4HD: the Four-Howitzer Defense, Revisited > From: AvaheilDotter@aol.com > whereever you like, basically. Under those conditions, I would replace the extra Unit types, yes, but I can't say that the counter mix ever crossed my mind. I've accumulated so many pieces over the years that it hasn't mattered "in a long, long time. Oh, since before you were born." ;) When I play Classic Ogre, I tend to use the '87-ish Ogre Deluxe Edition, which actually has a pretty generous counter mix (but I've mixed more than one copy, anyway). > 2 HWZ with 4 additional MSL so as to harrass him better. While a HWZ is > always guaranteed 1 shot, proper placement and movement of the MSL can > counteract this. Particularly as the MK5 has enough missles to burn 2-3 I will certainly try this out. I haven't had much luck against the Mk V. And then I'm gonna try the 10HD. I've gotta try it, just to do it. ----- Stephan Beal - stephan@wanderinghorse.net http://qub.sourceforge.net - http://gwm.rootonfire.org http://byoo.rootonfire.org - http://dungeonmaker.sourceforge.net "Now I'm not normally the kind of person who likes to trespass, but sometimes you just find yourself over the line." -- Bob Dylan ============================== From: "Herb Diehr" Subject: Overseas We prefer you, even without precision. You're worth waiting for...
