====== Ogre Digest, April 14th (Last: April 10th) ======== ===== Formula confusion From: stephan beal ===== Another list of new vehicles. From: Sumnerd1234@cs.com ============================== From: stephan beal Subject: Formula confusion > From: Nyrath the nearly wise > I've looked at all the web pages, and my mind is blurred > with visions of numbers, equations, ciscoes and henries. Keep in mind that Ciscos are a "fictional" (relatively speaking) term that i use when calculating costs based on Francisco "Cisco" Cestero's point system, and are in no way official: http://cisco.rootonfire.org. i prefer "ciscos" because i'm a math idiot, and Henry's formula makes my brain go all wahoonie shaped (no offense, Henry!). Ciscos come pretty close to the published values for the "core" Ogres, however. Henries are the closest thing you'll get to being official, but even they aren't technically official. ----- stephan Generic Unix Computer Guy stephan@einsurance.de - http://www.einsurance.de Office: +49 (89)  552 92 862 Handy:  +49 (179) 211 97 67 "Wenn ich weniger Bock haette, wuerde ich nicht Atmen." ===== [My armor unit formula is fairly solid for combat units without special abilities that fall within a narrow range. My infantry formula gives results that mostly work, with a few tweaks. My Ogre formula really isn't ready for prime time and that field is wide open. (Maybe the vehicles rules from GURPS: Fourth Edition could be used? ;-) -HJC] ============================== From: Sumnerd1234@cs.com Subject: Another list of new vehicles. Henry, I'm attaching a web page of variant Israeli units. If you don't mind posting them New Vehicles and Variant Weapons Systems For Use With OGRE & G.E.V. Part II Israeli Units During the Last War, Israel, finding itself lacking the extensive resources available to the larger world powers, couldn't always afford to produce large quantities of some of the more expensive weapons systems fielded by Combine and Pnaeuropean forces. Faced with a number of challenges, Israeli military R&D staffs set out on a extensive weapons development program that eventually produced a number of unique weapons syst ems. Light Ogre Missile: (D2, 4/5 =BD VP) One of the very first developments to be fielded was smaller and cheaper version of the standard Ogre missile used by Combine and Paneuropean forces. They have an attack strength of 4, a range of 5, a defense strength of 2, and are worth =BD a victory point for each missile fired or destroyed. Ogre Tertiary Batteries: (D2, 2/2, 2VP) A heavy rapid-fire cannon similar to standard Ogre Primary and Secondary Batteries, but less heavily armored and firing smaller shells. Ogre Missile Launcher: Taking a page from the Paneuropeans, the Israeli's also developed (read - knocked off) a smaller an d slightly less armored version of the Ogre Missile Rack, called the Ogre Miss ile Launcher. Ogre Missile Launchers were specifically designed to fire Israeli Light Ogre Missiles. They may fire one missile per a turn. Missiles are stored inside the Ogre, and may only be fired through a Missile Launcher. The luanchers have a defense strength of "3". The luancher's missiles have no defense strength of their own because they can't be destroyed while they are inside the Ogre. When the launcher is destroyed or all missiles have been expended, the Ogre can no longer fire missiles stored internally. Destruction of a Missile Launcher destroys one missile at the same time; this is the only way to destroy an internally stored missile before firing. Running parallel to the development of the Light Ogre Missile, was a program to develop new missile weapons systems for Ogres. Short Range Missile Launcher-(SRML): Short Range Missile Launchers (SRML) are modified versions of the missile launchers used on Light Missile Tanks, that have been adapted for use on an OGRE. They have an attack strength of 2, a range of 3 (6"), a defense of 2, and are worth 4 Victory Points. Long Range Missile Launcher-(LRML): Long Range Missile Launchers (SRML) are modified versions of the missile launchers used on Missile Tanks, that have been adapted for use on an OGRE. They have an attack streng th of 3, a range of 4 (8"), a defense of 3, and are worth 6 Victory Points. Israeli "Sabra" cybertank: A light raider developed with the help of Combine research staff sympathetic to the Isreali cause. 4 Light Ogre missiles (4/5) D2 0000 2 Secondary batteries (3/2) D3 00 4 AP (1/1) D1 0000 (against Infantry, CP and unarmored structures only) 45 Tread Units 000000 (M2) 000000 (M1) 00000 0 (M0) *Notes* These units should in no way be considered "official" and are presented here for your enjoyment. After all, all the Lebensraum in the world isn't going to do you much good if it glows in the dark. And if the detection gear will be good enough to spot the bombs far away enough, why won't it be used on the battlefield? -HJC] List Moderator: Henry J.
