Doyle" Subject: OGRE's Grandfather At least they actually built a T-28. Here's the Fencer's ancestor... http://members.tripod.com/~fingolfen/superheavy/p1000.html Only the Germans... ============================== From: David Morse Subject: mass production of Ogre brains If you read GURPS Ogre closely, you get the impression that a sci-fi revolution happens midway through the last war. They talk about general purpose factories able to mass-manufacture anything, given a truckload of data and small parts called "templates". Now presumably most factories just don't have the size and BPC smelting capacity to start churning out Mark Vs, but ... what about the Ogre brains? According to Gurps Ogre they're about the size of a garbage can. Given that industry is already focused on churning out computers by the gazillions, why not mass produce the brains? The first side that did this could afford to put Ogre brains not only into its Ogres, but also into its heavy tanks, GEVs, and maybe even infantry. Presumably this would let them ignore D results on the CRT, and double their attack strength during overruns, not to mention other advantages not represented in-game. ===== [Aren't we about a week too late to shamble around mumbling brains, brains? According to GO, Ogre brains cost more than a Superheavy Tank. Also you don't want identical Ogre brains because they'll all make the same mistakes. My mental image has a Mark V driving up to the Grand Canyon and then falling over the edge to crash on top of a pile of wrecked Mark Vs. -HJC] ============================= Send all submissions or mailing list changes or problems to ogre@sjgames.com Archives for this mailing list may be found at http://www.io.com/~hcobb/ General online support for the OGRE game is at http://www.sjgames.com/ogre Ogre, G.E.V., Shockwave and other products mentioned here are trademarks or registered trademarks of Steve Jackson Games.
