Can't begin to think about a larger area. :-) Matt ============================== From: "Chris French" Subject: Nazi Super Tank > From: Sethkimmel@aol.com > I assumed you were talking about a MAUS (BIG tank w coaxial 128 and 75 mm > main guns -- one was built at war's end?), until I saw the picture; looks > like a hovertank! didn't know the krauts built one... Because the recon drones are like cockroaches -- there's too many of them, and they're f***ing near impossible to hit to start with. Also, as _Battlesuit_ is INF-oriented, we're only going to see the INF's drones. Surely there are drones configured to run with GEVs. Perhaps that's why those scenarios have reinforcements. Besides which, a recon drone (if I recall the flavor text right) is about the size of a beaver, and can hide in any terrain. > From: David Morse > Subject: variant unit: Trebuchet Cybertank > Note #2: the price given is via YACD. Was ist "YACD"? BTW: I'm not sure this unit is that great an idea -- seems a bit crunchy once it's shot its bolts (and an OGRE Mk.2 looks like it'll shred this thing unless the first couple missiles are X results). CF ===== From: "Imre A. Szabo" Subject: Nazi Super Tank The MAUS is still alive. It is in a tank musseum outside of Moscow. I saw it there along with many other tanks, including some very unusual varients, 10 years ago. I forget the name musseum, but it has largest collection of tanks anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, the display of them was rather poor, they are all packed in building (barns) and there is rarely enough room to walk between them. ias ============================== From: AvaheilDotter@aol.com Subject: Recon Drones << I respectfully disagree on this recon drone theorey. How fast are these recon drones? Faster then GEVs? The drones in battlesuit certainly aren't. Since ammo is plentiful, why aren't they hunted down and killed by idle or out-of-range infantry? >> IIRC, there are existing spyeyes that can be lofted on a toy balloon with a plastic fibre optic wire attached to allow an overview of the area. Recon drones would be shells with the warhead replaced with sensors, fired into an area with suspected targets. Instant robot recon. Ad Astra! Stan Leghorn ============================== From: "Alvin Helms" Subject: Light Artillery Drones I'm not quite pleased with the LAD rules. Three whole turns of being useless...? Am I alone in this, or does anyone else think the LAD isn't worth the effort? Does anyone have some better suggestions for rules to use them? -- A ===== [Yeah, use them as Light Howitzers ala OM15. Why do you need a light? Because of all those munchkin fuzzy LGEVs! Note that seven hexes range means that you get your infantry screen at two hexes and nab any LGEVs that nibble on them. -HJC] ============================= Send all submissions or mailing list changes or problems to ogre@sjgames.com Archives for this mailing list may be found at http://www.io.com/~hcobb/ General online support for the OGRE game is at http://www.sjgames.com/ogre Ogre, G.E.V., Shockwave and other products mentioned here are trademarks or registered trademarks of Steve Jackson Games.
