Even fewer dice. Too bad about having to lug a table, though. How about the cruise missile is shot down if the roll of 3d6 is less than or equal to the number of AP guns on the Ogre. Distance-travelled modifiers apply as usual. Thus a Mk III's 8 AP would shoot down an off map cruise missile on a 11 or lower. Also, perhaps add 2 to the to-hit if the Ogre has balls-of-steel and is willing to hold fire till range 0? Hm... I kind of think "Balls of Steel" would be a good name for an Ogre supplement. Zoom in on the main batteries for the cover art and snigger when saying it aloud. ============================== From: "Chris French" Subject: Ogre Miniatures by Gray Cat > From: "Richard Kerr" > The resin buildings are at this point still under evaluation. Sir, are you implying I might make disparaging remarks sans proper evidence? Umm, not quite -- the "normal" OGRE missile rules are used; the sole change is that the missile attack as CMs. Hence the "Nu- clear Hand Grenade" analogy. > Really, if your in a general scenario, and plan to take an Ogre, and are > worried about GEVs, just take a slightly smaller Ogre and a few Off Map > Cruise Missiles (OMCM). Umm, this assumes the OGRE player has a choice in what OGRE he uses. IIRC, most OGRE-infarcted scenarios designate what OGRE can be used; it is the non-OGRE side which has choices. > [I have tried it and the problem with 50 LGEVs isn't firepower, it's > catching the things. > > Stun a group then pull up and apply the secondaries that otherwise > wouldn't have any targets. -HJC] It's both, actually. Even with secondaries, one is still limited in the number of units one can kill (5 for a Mk. III; 8 for a V, IIRC). Then the rest pop right back up and FW your track-laying ass. :) > From: hcobb@io.com > Subject: Rise of the Machines > > http://www.foreignpolicy-infocus.org/commentary/2004/0404machines.html > > Sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the > > Mar. 13 "race" was part of the Department of Defense's (DOD) plan to make > > one third of the military's combat vehicles driverless by 2015. Yes. And the farthest any of the contestants got was 7 miles. I'm *really* scared about seeing OGREs in my lifetime. (Sarcasm Alert.) CF ===== [If you are using model railroad gear you don't want exact scale buildings. The only buildings that Ogre Minis considers as seperate buildings are things like the factories that don't really exist today so you'll want a smaller real world building blown up by the change in scale so an Ogre will fit inside it. Remember that even the infantry are out of exact scale because each figure stands in for a squad. But if you must, Z scale is is 1/220th and Ogre Minis are 1/285th. -HJC] ============================== Send all submissions to ogre@sjgames.com and mailing list changes or problems to ogre-request@sjgames.com Archives for this mailing list may be found at http://www.io.com/~hcobb/ General online support for the OGRE game is at http://www.sjgames.com/ogre Ogre, G.E.V., Shockwave and other products mentioned here are trademarks or registered trademarks of Steve Jackson Games.
