I believe that Z Scale is 1:220, which is pretty close to the 1:285 of the OGRE Miniature line. ===== From: "Chris French" Subject: Ogre Miniatures by Gray Cat > From: David Morse > Hm... Oh, hell -- it's not like it matters that much. The phrase "building blown up" has more than one meaning here. :) > But if you must, Z scale is is 1/220th and Ogre Minis are 1/285th. That'll work, except Z scale is horrifically expensive (if available at all). Having tried to supply miniature cars and semis for _Car Wars_ games.... :P CF ===== From: Sethkimmel@aol.com Subject: Ogre Miniatures by Gray Cat > From: "Richard Kerr" > >The resin buildings are at this point still under evaluation. N scale is 1/160th and Z scale is 1/220th. so my guess is NO railroad scale is truly compatible... Another problem is that Z scale has much less available than N scale and what IS available is much more European focused than N scale (which is NOT necessarily a bad thing since most of the scenarios and fiction I read tend to take place there....). An example of the scale problems is that N scale track is 9 mm across or in another words, I can place a heavy tank on it and it barely covers both rails. My N scale Amtrak P42 locomotive (which looks futuristic enough to pass for the Ogre train, though the Japanese "bullet" train or the French TGV train would look better...) for example is longer than a MkV model and is as tall as the top of the deck. this in my opinion hurts the "massiveness" look of Ogres... ===== [I've opened the archives for this list for 1992-1994 (I took a year off in 1995).
