I mean, $300 is close to the point where I might just want to take up another hobby. Depending upon what is needed to make the molds, it could even be lots of fun. > Okay. I can't resist. Did I say "Lead", I meant "low-melt alloys"... I'll never tell... I could tell you, but then the MIB would have to kill me. The technique for casting metal -vs- plastic is drastically different, but the molding process is not. ===== From: BillA2720@aol.com Subject: Plastic Minis > From: Darren Breland > Making molds for plastic -vs- lead is not drastically different. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but from whence do you derive this information? >> I think there has been a problem in that some people are talking about casting resin and some are talking about injection molded plastic like model kits or 1/72 boxes of figures. Casting resin uses the same mold making techniques as metal casting, while plastic injection molding uses machined tooled molds due to the high preasure used to force the plastic into the mold. As plastic technology advances in the future they may develope a type that does not require near as much preasure and the rubber molds could be used for that. There have been a a few attempts over the years to produce an injection molding toy that uses something like hot glue and had molds that look like they were molded plastic. Why introduce the inconstency? Other armor units can get hit any number of times by the other weaponry. > G6.113 An Ogre submerged in a water hex [cannot make ranged attacks ... > only against submerged Marines in an overrun.) Agreed - the underwater rules have always been a bit vague. > G6.134 is rather unclear on Ogres ramming Ogres. One way of reading > this is that an Ogre can only ram another Ogre starting with its > second fire round but can then ram this same Ogre every fire round > thereafter. Just so long as it didn't ram an armor unit during its > first fire round. i actually got an answer to that one years back from Mr. J, but i don't have the mail any more, and don't remember what it was. :/ > From: David Morse > Everyone but me is freakin' OBSESSED with underwater overruns. > Hello? People! Until marines cost a reasonable amount, you're not > going to see any of these! LOL! That is true. i've never seen one happen, but partly because i've avoided the situation because the rules aren't so clear. ============================== Send all submissions to ogre@sjgames.com and mailing list changes or problems to ogre-request@sjgames.com Archives for this mailing list may be found at http://www.io.com/~hcobb/ General online support for the OGRE game is at http://www.sjgames.com/ogre Ogre, G.E.V., Shockwave and other products mentioned here are trademarks or registered trademarks of Steve Jackson Games.
