====== OGRE Digest, May 22nd, 2004 (Last: May 14th) ======== ===== The alignment of Ogres From: "Daniel Gallant" ===== Deluxe Ogre questions...infantry From: "Dan" ============================== From: "Daniel Gallant" Subject: The alignment of Ogres > From: "Chris French" > Right, like there aren't any _Futurama_ fans here except you and > me. :) (I'm surprised that show never managed to work in an > _OGRE_ reference -- hell, they put a Beholder in "How Hermes > Requisitioned His Groove Back".) Ah, but remember , Beholders are Lawful Evil. It would make sense for them to be part of an evil bureaucracy, using the structure and power of the bureaucracy to gain power. An Ogre (cybertank) on the other hand, would be Lawful Neutral, acting as law, tradition, or a personal code (or in the case, programming) directs. A Beholder would twist the rules to gain power and control others. The Ogre (well, pre-sentient anyway) just follow their programming. I sent my questions to SJG on-line and the fellow there referred me to you! I just picked up a copy of the new version of Deluxe Ogre with the minis. The infantry has me buffaloed! The rules show stands with one, two, or three infantry per stand. Do you have a suggestion as to how many of which to do? There's not enough for three for EACH stand. Suggestions? On that topic, it doesn't LOOK like those infantry would fit in the stands very well! (I haven't tried yet.) Is there any "trick" to it? Lastly, are there any websites you could recommend that show finished Ogre minis? I THINK the assembly is clear for most, but I'm not totally clear on the assembly of the GEV's and the Ogre itself. I've done modelling in gaming for years but I felt that the pics in the rulebook were wanting. Thanks for your help! I played Ogre once many years ago and am eager to get back into it! Dan ===== [I have seen a single squad permanently fixed in each stand with up to two more squads held in with ticky-tacky and removed as they are lost to fire. My personal preference for stacking infantry is to not do so. And so I'd suggest making single-squad stands by mounting each squad on a penny or something (use superglue then flock it), especially in the basic Ogre scenario. See: http://www.io.com/~hcobb/gev/1997/gevoct03.txt for the math about stacking. There are a few sites with photos linked from the Ogre directory page. http://directory.google.com/Top/Games/Board_Games/Science_Fiction/Ogre/ And there is a large photo album at the Yahoo group. http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/OGRE-Miniatures/ There's been another question about a non-digest real time mode for this list, but it seems to be on hold for the moment. -HJC] ============================== Send all submissions to ogre@sjgames.com and mailing list changes or problems to ogre-request@sjgames.com Archives for this mailing list may be found at http://www.io.com/~hcobb/ General online support for the OGRE game is at http://www.sjgames.com/ogre Ogre, G.E.V., Shockwave and other products mentioned here are trademarks or registered trademarks of Steve Jackson Games.
