Godzilla 2076 Sidebar: Smart 'Zilla or Dumb 'Zilla?
In the earlier movies, Godzilla was the personification of big, angry,
hungry, and reactonary - you attacked him, he stomped on you. As the
Godzilla saga continued, though, more and more he became a tough, savvy
street fighter with a hint of a noble streak. But in 1985 he went back
to being an instinct-driven brute (Godzilla 1985).
So, is Godzilla sharp or stupid? The answer is up to you.
Playing a "smart" Godzilla means the Godzilla player should
analyze the scenario, then use Godzilla's abilities for optimum effect
to achieve victory.
Playing Godzilla as "dumb" either requires dedicated roleplaying
on the part of the Godzilla player, or the following guidelines:
- Godzilla will always move at half or more of his full Move towards
the nearest and largest source of energy (i.e., first towards reactors,
then Ogres, etc.);
- If attacked, Godzilla will pursue and attack his tormentors on a
roll of 1-2 on one die for a total of 1d turns, or until the enemy is
destroyed. Otherwise, he'll continue to move towards the largest source
of energy. Of course, if the attacker is the largest source of
energy...
- Godzilla may attack anything in range, but may not deviate from his
goal except as described above. Godzilla must overrun anything
directly in his path, even an Ogre!
