For: Fluffy the Spampire Slayer New Song: Incubement Cost: 3 Essence/use Disturbance: Essence + Corp/Eth/Cel Forces of victim + 5 CORPOREAL - The song compresses a vessel or human into a cube some four inches on a side. The being thus encapsulated will either go into stasis (if human) or enter another Vessel or go Celestial (Celestial). This song does not kill the victim, and its effects may be nullified at will. (One use of this song inspired a plot device for a particularly insipid episode of the original 'Star Trek.' The angel who tipped the humans off about the cube trick, a Malakite of Eli, was also the original source of the line, "It... it... it's green.") ETHEREAL - The song produces a Rubik's-cube type object which represents the thought processes of the victim. Twisting the sides and screwing up the pretty friendly colors does odd things to their mind... CELESTIAL - The song, which may only be used in Sheol, produces 1 ton of ice cubes, roughly 1 inch a side, which will resist melting for a period in hours equal to the check digit of the roll. - --- Redneck (it's all in fun) Kris Overstreet, will write for food... | Do not taunt Happy Fun Belial. http://www.txdirect.net/users/redneck | * * * c/o White Lightning Productions | "I love the sweet smell of http://www.jurai.net/~redneck/wlp/ | humiliation in the morning!" (Behemoth and Leviathan being created on the 6th day.) Baba Batra refers to him as sar shel yam, Prince of the Primordial Sea. The Babylonian Talmud states that Leviathan, Behemoth, Rahab and the Angel of Death are the same. (Then again, there are places where it says that Beleth is a dark angel who leads a million troops, and always has trumpets playing for him when he is in battle.) There can also be found places where Rahab is the Great Whore of Babylon, triple Goddess of Heaven, Earth and Hell. An Everygard Serpant of sorts. Behemoth is generally thought of as male and Leviathan as female, mainly because they are often mentioned in tandem, and Leviathan is often considered a syncultural view of Tiamat, another female serpant 'goddess'. According to William Blake, Behemoth and Leviathan are demonic lovers who hold up pillars for Heaven. According to PT Barnum, Leviathan is a five whales bones all tied together and sold to the masses for a dollar a pop. sok ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Nov 1997 16:45:06 -0800 From: The Saint of Killers Subject: Re: IN> Archangel relations Sam Kington wrote: > This seems to me a bit bizarre, especially concerning allied angels. The idea of the Cathedrals being the Superior's Hearts is similar to one that features in the Kult game, in which the Citadels of the Archons actually are the Archons in one sense. Personally I think it's a cool idea. It could be that the experience of being inside a Cathedral *is* telling you where the Archangel in question is, like a massive puzzle. it's just that most angels (and AA's) simply aren't equipped to process the information. [of The Marches] OK, here goes for the attunements. (Someone else can summarise the politics and stuff) Blandine ======== Dream Joining: spend 2 Essence, join two dreamscapes together. They must both be occupied and in the same sort of area. Both dreamers need to consecutively fail with a check digit of 6 to be cast into Beleth's realm, and vice versa. Dreambook: make a complete record of a dream, using a blank book, tape or video (or whatever). Audio-visual recordings will only be perceivable by Celestials; everyone else will just get white noise or whatever. Books can be read by anyone, and many great novels were created this way. Lucidity: grant lucidity to a dreamer for 3 Essence. The dreamer has complete control over his dream until he wakes up, and can cast the angel out. Don't have to be in the dream; contact is sufficient. New types of angels: Menunim. They're like the angels in Wings of Desire, encourage people silently and are forbidden from giving advice directly. Gabriel ======= Eyes of Fire: stare into a flame, view the closest object of his Choir attunement and sense general direction. Whispers of Inspiration: communicate thoughts directly into the mind of a listening, contemplative being. Where There's Smoke: Sense whether someone within sight is a pyromaniac. Elohim automatically recognise servitors of Belial. The True Shape of Flame: shape flame into various shapes, either for artistic purposes, intimidation, or defense (wrap flames around you). The Last Spark: inspire a human, by giving him as much Essence as his highest Force. Lasts an hour, after which the human is dejected again. Beleth ====== Dream Joining: as for Blandine Nightmare Trigger: when a dreamer experiences something unpleasant when awake, and has a nightmare as a result, a visiting demon can spend 1 Essence to make part of that event a nightmare trigger. Whenever he sees that part of the event again (e.g. screaming boss' red spectacles), he will have a nightmare the following evening. Dream Drain: while a dreamer is in Beleth's realm, and a demon is in their dream, they can become a particularly dangerous threat: as a defense mechanism, the dreamer blows all their Essence, and the demon gets it. The demon is also ejected from the dreamscape, however, and the dreamer get drift into Blandine's realm on a Will roll. Any demonic attempts to interfere with the dream are reduced by the check digit. New types of demon: Pachadim. They can sense and exaggerate people's fears, but cannot be friendly or keep on trying to scare people that have resisted three times in a row. Belial ====== Eyes of Blight: Study a target, make a Perception roll to find weaknesses, add check digit to all attempts to destroy it. A Kiss for Fuses: Kiss item, spend 1 Essence, make it into a fuse that will last a certain number of minutes before sparking and possibly setting alight other substances. Call of the Dancing Flame: cause a human to be transfixed by fire and stop trying to put it out (on a successful contest of Will). Blackdraft: Spend 3 Essence to stop a fire completely, then release it in its previous state as if it had never stopped. Domino Effect: Start chain of catastrophe: roll d6+Essence spent, if it's more than 10 another, slightly more destructive event occurs. Hope this was of use. [H&H "No Dinero" Spoilers] That reminds me of a small quibble I had with the writeup of Loki and Thor. It says that Thor would help the PCs against Loki. I don't see this happening. Loki has aided the Aesir against outside threats repeatedly and was released to join in the battle against Uriel and company as soon as the Purge began. I'm not saying that Thor would embrace Loki with open arms, but in a choice between Loki and Celestials, I think his choice should be obvious. It's late, and my mind is boggling easily. They're not anything too kinky, sorry. They were he-goats that pulled his chariot and if he got hungry (and he did, a lot), he could kill and eat them and by putting his hammer over their hides and bones, would cause them to regenerate overnight. I don't think anyone ever got into a fight with them, but I would imagine that they're a force to be reckoned with and hard to put down since they're used to dying... (Not that I know why someone would fight them, but there always seems to be an angelic PC spoiling for a fight and losing to a couple of goats would be properly humiliating. *evil grin*) > --emccoy@nh.ultranet.com // arcangel@io.com In Nomine Line Editor Oops da Ogre, the Aesir are _fun_! mudgb4@uxa.ecn.bgu.edu ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Nov 1997 23:02:56 -0600 From: rbeall@fdldotnet.com (Grim88) Subject: IN> Card Games (Lunch Money)..AND...my new page >> Lunch Money? >> Isn't that with kick boxing Catholic school girls? Before IN (finally!) came out, I wrote Derek a few times. In one of my posts I asked about the Metatron. He replied that the Metatron was going to feature in more in depth descriptions of Hell, that the infernal realm was going to be carved out of the Metatron's body, and that he would be the infernal's only real friend. So, I've read H&H and the Metatron ain't there. How come? First, amusing. He doesn't like movies, only the trailers. Also, he's vigorously maintaining and expanding a Role. Many of you may have seen him, or may be familiar with some of his works, Pink Flamingoes, Polyester or even Hairspray. That's right, John Waters *is* Nybbas! Second, enlightening. He *HATES* Eli. Here he is, the Demon Prince of Media, master of film, video, print and paint, creator of 98% of all TV programming worldwide, and how much press can his shows get? Never more than 80%, and sometimes as low as 70% during the start of the new season. Whose 2% is it that gets that 20%-30% of the press? Eli's! Vapula he gets on very well with. While Vapula doesn't find his projects too technically difficult, they don't take a lot of time, either. He also doesn't quite dig how important they can be, but he's easily distracted. Nybbas is always looking to improve TV ratings. In Shal-Mari, there are theatres that show only one TV program, over and over, to thousands of viewers, and each of those viewers counts towards the Nielsen ratings, yet somehow, quality programming still seems to receive ratings somehow. Jean's influence is suspected. Some Words currently commanded by Nybbas: Text (see my earlier Note on Wording Redux) Cross-Licensing Focus Groups (this is currently held by a Shedite who possesses members of TV program focus groups while they view and comment on programs, and insures that only the most banal elements survive while any original thoughts and ideas perish) Advertising Just a few thoughts... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Nov 1997 03:04:56 -0500 From: "bruce dykes" Subject: IN> [BUFFY] the Slayer Project, the Divine Players (upd) I should really know better than to post Slayer Project chapters the day a new episode airs. There are some minor updates to the Divine Players chapter: The Divine Players: These aren't complete interpretations of the Buffy characters. I've left them incomplete for a number of reasons. First, I'm lazy. Second, Joss Whedon and company aren't using In Nomine to write their stories and create their characters, so some of the options available to IN characters aren't evident in the television show. Third, I'm leaving plenty of license for other GMs to use their own interpretation. So I'm just going to give thumbnails and let other GMs flesh them out as they see fit. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ------------ Cambria Seraph of Creation in service to Destiny Song of Imbuement: Corporeal, Ethereal, Celestial The Song of Imbuement allows the Celestial to impart one Force of the appropriate type to the mortal recipient. Eli taught him the netire suite of the Song of Imbuement to ensure that the Slayer would have the requisite 6 forces. Since Eli's disappearance, he's been in service to Yves. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ------------ Gilia: Elohite Friend of the Sages Corp 4 Str 9 Agl 7 Ethr 5 Int 10 Prc 10 Cels 4 Will 6 Per 10 Role: Rupert Giles, Librarian -4 Occult History /4 Fighting /3 Savoir Faire /2 Character Notes: In 1888 a Habbalite failed in his attempts to instill any sort of emotion in several prostitutes in the east end of London. In a fit of rage, he slew them. The resulting Symphonic disturbance showed him how empty his own alleged emotions were, and he petitioned Dominic for Redemption and Judgment. When the time came for final pleas, sentence and execution, Yves declared that a Destiny had claimed him, and Dominic surrendered him to Yves' service. (the details are available as a vignette, and my ideas on Dominic's court will be forthcoming in my Suoeriors' Notes). Giles is the Watcher assigned to Buffy, the current Slayer. As an Elohite, he is somewhat oblivious to the extraneous pressures applied to a hgh school girl in 1990's America. This is the management concern Jean expressed in his email to Calendar. Giles has a tendency, like all Elohim, to put the job at hand to the head of the queue. He's also somewhat loath to embrace new technologies, instead preferring the collective memories of books to the hive knowledge of the nets. As a Friend of the Sages Giles has a four year college education in every subject. This would preclude advanced knowledge of ancient languages, but basic interpretive knowledge is certainly available. However, he certainly knows the pertinent ones at level 4: Ancient Greek, Latin, Sumerian, Hebrew, Egyptian, etc. Giles appears as a tall, brown haired, bespectacled, refined, and distinguished English gentleman in his mid thirties. A Lilim servant of Lust may as well have created this vessel, but being Elohim, Giles is completely oblivious to the potential effect he could have on young ladies. It's a good thing he's on the side of the Divine. Special Attunement: Watchers' Shelves: This is very similar to the Attunement "Right of Passage" (H&H pg34), save for a few details. First, the Watcher can only go to the section of Yves' library that contains the Watchers' diaries and notebooks, and the terrestrial occult holdings; and can only return to the library he entered from . Second, it only costs one essence, plus one for each person he chooses to bring with him. There are also a few bonuses. Watchers have full borrowing privileges, and are free to bring tomes with them to their corporeal libraries. Also, due to the specialised focus of their research, the default time for finding a desired tome is 10 *hours* minus celestial forces. The check digit of a successful reserach skill roll can also be subtracted from the default time. Minimum time will be 1 hour, Infernal intervention on a research roll means the tome will not be found. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ------------------------------- Cailinn Mercurian servant of Jean Corp 4 Str 5 Agl 7 Ethr 4 Int 8 Prc 8 Cels 3 Will 6 Perc 6 Role: Jenny Calendar, Computer Professional - 5 Skills: Artitstry /1 Computer Oper /4 Electronics /2 Internet (Knowl) /4 Comp Progr (Knowl) /4 Seduction /2 Occult Theory (Knowl) /3 Jenny Calendar appears as a brunette professional in her late twenties - early thirties. Until she took the teaching job at Sunnydale High School, she was instrumental in putting together village.com, an ISP that used its suburban subscribers and computer recycling to subsidize the connection of inner city households and schools to the internet. Now she's supervising the installation of Sunnydale's new computer lab, and will be the new computer science teacher at Sunnydale. This is absolutely perfect, as she loves nothing better than training young protohackers to hack for Good. She describes herself as a "techno-pagan", but that's just to maintain the credibility of her net persona. Her charge is to provide Giles and Buffy with technological support for their mission. Left to his own devices, Giles would never have bothered looking at a computer, never mind the internet. Her second task is to see to it that Giles realizes that Buffy has other problems than vampires and minions of Lucifer. Her strategy for this mission? Give Giles a problem other than Buffy, namely, herself. So far, she's succeeding. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ------------------------------ Syndia Elohite Vassal of Conscience Corp 3 Str 7 Agl 5 Ethr 4 Int 8 Prc 8 Cels 4 Will 6 Perc 10 Role: Principal Snyder - 3 With this many Divine resources in place, and being this close to a potential Infernal tether, there is *no way* that Dominic would let this go without sending agents to keep an eye on things. Syndia tends to be brusque and uncompromising in his celestial duties, and that carries over into his role as principal of Sunnydale High. He prizes discipline, obedience, and order above all else, and he tries to express the values through his management of the high school. The second member of Dominic's triad is the commander of the night shift of the local police force, and the third member remains, as yet, unknown. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ------------------------------ Buffy Summers Slayer Corp 3 Str 6 Agl 6 Ethr 2 Int 3 Prc 3 Cels 1 Will 2 perc 2 Toughness/2 - Body 30 Skills: Acrobatics /3 Climbing /1 Dodge /3 Escape /1 Fighting /4 Staff /4 Stake/Dagger /4 Move Silently /3 Ice Skating /2 Buffy is a new student to Sunnydale. She was asked to leave her last school after burning down the gymnasium while it was full of vampires. Her mother is unaware of her role as Slayer, as are her teachers and the vast majority of the student body. She spends most of her time with Giles, Xander and Willow in the Library, and going to classes, though she has been known to cut classes occasionally. She has to balance grades, a social life and her duties as Slayer, and it's proving to be a bit much, but so far she's keeping her head above it all, but barely. She also happens to be in love with Angel. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ------------------------------------ Xander Harris, Willow Rosenberg, and Cordelia The Sunnydale Irregulars Xander (pronounced Zander, short for Alexander) and Willow are Buffy's two best friends. They've been best friends since childhood, and they know of her role as Slayer, and they help out quite often, with Willow doing research, and Xander doing legwork. Xander is about 15 years old, grades aren't great and he has a major crush on Buffy. Willow is a rather plain looking 15 year old girl who's quite comfortable with computers (Programming /3) and knows how to do research. She has a major crush on Xander. (this is High School, remember?). Cordelia is the newcomer to the group, She's had to be rescued by Buffy several times, and now knows of her role. The leader of the Popular Clique in school, she's slowly learning to get over her self centeredness and complete obliviousness to those outside her clique She and Xander mercilessly insult and rag on each other. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - -------------------------------- Angel Good Guy Vampire Angel (short for Angelus) is a 240 year old vampire. At some point during his unlife, a gypsy servitor of Janus restored his conscience/soul, and convinced him to allow an angel to take up residence (see the Song of Residence in the translation Notes) in his body (I'm thinking a Malakite of Janus, but use your own ideas). He no longer feeds on Humans, and now he's in love with the Slayer. Giles doesn't necessarily trust him, though he is quite a great help. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ------------------------------------ Bruce Impudite Captain of Cross-Licensing bdykes@intac.com ------------------------------ End of in_nomine-digest V1 #477 ******************************* The material here is (C) 1997 Steve Jackson Games, Incorporated.
