The Revelation of St. John the Divine, Chapter 21: 1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. If you are doing an approximately Christian IN, then it's pretty clear that God hsa promised to destroy the world and replace it with a better one at the end of time. And Colorado is a huge state, technologically. Jean should have an interest, and if he doesn't, Orc, the Angel of Networks, should love the state. Of course, you can make the argument that every Superior should be present... Colorado would be a good state for Laurence vs. Malphas (Moral Society versus Malphas' corruption of the Religious Right), Christopher vs. Furfur (the poster state for school violence), or Eli/Novalis vs. Andrealphas (gay rights crises), if you want more specific concepts. > Redneck Ben ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Dec 1999 13:09:25 -0700 From: "Ben Glickler" Subject: IN> RE: Dogma. DOGMA SPOILERS BELOW. Bartleby was a Grigori. Probably in service to Novalis. As a Watcher, he'd know all sorts of interesting things about humanity. (Nope, he wasn't a Mercurian, but after a few million years, you'd probably be that good at reading people, too.) He'd also have a dissonance condition -- Thou Shalt Not Touch -- that he violated very strongly when he attacked the Last Scion. One of the best scenes in the entire movie, from an In Nomine perspective, was seeing him Fall, right in front of his best friend. I bet a lot of angels react like Loki did. He had an incling that something was up, but he had no idea how bad it really was. And Falling, for Bartleby, was an obvious release. Entertaining movie, but I'd not place much stock in it as In Nomine fodder, at least not for people who prefer plausible, non-silly games. Although I've got a Mercurian and a Malakite who've done exactly what Bartleby and Loki did on that bus... I heard the answer to this once before, but I'm not sure anymore. I'm pretty sure that a "swarm" is sort of counted as one entity, and losing one or two will not hurt. These insects are supposed to lose a lot of their number, anyway. That's why they breed so prodigiously. As for Numinous Corpus, I'm not sure, but it's a cool concept. >> Reverend Brian A. No, I was thinking of it like this: when most people have an encounter with a really obnoxious, self-centered jerk, it tends to make them angry and upset. And most people act in a worse fashion than they otherwise would when they are full of resentment. Think of a toddler wrecking a favorite toy during a tantrum, and recall that adult behavior is frequently just a more sophisticated version of the same. It's rather like the "better moral position" humanity is in due to Original Sin. We didn't ASK to have these fault-lines in our souls, but we have them, and the are real faults. And we are not sorry about them in ourselves nearly as often as we are about them in each other. Which brings up another point about Shedim. How many of them REGRET corrupting their hosts? If a Shedite didn't WANT to corrupt people, it would presumably stay in Hell, or ooze out into the Marches and make a dash for Blandine's Tower to defect, or something.
