Geishas, as defined, DO NOT HAVE SEX. Having sex actually means you get kicked out of the group. I think you're thinking more of a 'Courtesan'. This is just a pet peeve cultural thing of mine. Geishas never have sex in order to preserve much of their mystique. A Geisha can talk, play music, give shiatsu, but will not have sex with you.<<< Actually, that's not *quite* true. A geisha is not a prostitute, and you don't proposition one to have sex with you, that is true. However, men who establish a relationship with a geisha -- by becoming one of her favorite customers, spending a lot of time with her (and a LOT of money) -- can eventually work their way up to sleeping with them. This isn't exactly forbidden, but it's a long, gradual, discrete process, establishing a relationship which either one of them can terminate at any time. The geisha winds up in a shadowy nether-zone somewhere between mistress and girlfriend. - -David ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Jul 1999 15:28:33 +1000 From: "Shane" Subject: Re: IN> Seraphim and the truth On 2 Jul 99, at 12:57, Elizabeth McCoy wrote: > At 1:20 AM -0700 7/2/99, Steel Angel wrote: > >SdshowTim@aol.com wrote: > >> This is a lot like my opinion of Fate's Balseraph taking the seraph > >> resonance. I've realised something else, too. When is a statement not a statement? When it's a question. The Seraph may be speaking with full stops at the end of its sentences, trying to be an everything detector, but it's still actually asking questions, not "relates a fact or expresses an opinion". So not only are they risking dissonance, it won't even work! > Also, to keep this from happening with other beings playing the > "everything detector," ruthlessly enforce the concept of "If you don't > know, and don't even suspect, then the only Truth a CD 6 can wring out of > the Symphony is, 'I don't know.'" Something like "If the target of a Seraph's resonance has no personal involvement in or knowledge of the Truth sought, or if a Superior's personal Truths would be revealed, the resonance's check digit can never be higher than 5. Further, resonating on a Superior is only as successful as the Superior allows it to be." ? Shane. In _The Marches_, pp. 110-111, we're told that Ethereals generate vessels roughly as do celestials in Limbo. There are no straight-out rules for hit calculation, so I'd assume that it's the same as for a celestial: (Vessel + Corp Forces) * Strength. (I think that's right. I think canon is quite clear about the Archangelic situation at the time. However, I can't find a date for when Haagenti was promoted. Who was Demon Prince of gluttony in 1492? And what about Vapula? Was he around? The PC's superiors will be Laurence, Khalid, Yves, Marc, Jean and Dominic. I am very clear about the agendas held by those particular Archangels. What I'm interested in is people's ideas about the political situation in Hell at that time. I'm pretty clear about Asmodeus's, Kronos', Baal's and Belial's interest, so the question really concerns Vapula more than anyone. And which other specific Demon Princes would have been around. In case it helps anyone focus, the main 'meat' of the scenario will concern the conquest of Granada, the expulsion of the Jews, several important books, religious tolerance of the remaining followers of Islam and the Inquisition. It's a fair bet that he was even more under Kobal's guidance than he is these days, however. There might theoretically be a few Servitors of Meserach and Mariel still wandering round, if that amuses you. >The PC's superiors will be Laurence, Khalid, Yves, Marc, Jean and Dominic. >I am very clear about the agendas held by those particular Archangels. >What I'm interested in is people's ideas about the political situation in >Hell at that time. I _think_ the Shal-Mari bloc wouldn't have been too concerned with any of the above matters, though Kobal might have got a kick out of some facets. You could possibly link Valefor to the concept of the property/belongings/birthright of the native Jews being stolen. Beleth might well have been called in by any Prince sponsoring the action to help influence major political figures through nightmares or mob hysteria. (Such delightful stories as "the Jews bake a Christian child in pastry for their Sabbath" -- I think that's called a "Blood Libel" but am not entirely sure.) GaelCon is well worth getting over to Dublin for and Dublin is always worth visiting! It's part of a bigger idea - one set to run from 1492 until the end of the world. This will be a sequence of Convention scenarios (run mostly in Ireland, maybe the UK, anywhere else that will have me provided I can afford the air fares) which might turn into a campaign or a novel and will almost certainly use other RPG systems (specifically those which allow human PCs to use non-Angleic, non-demonic magicks). I don't mind discussing this but as it's not IN, it had better be offlist or the demons of off-thread communications may start hunting me down..... The reason I asked about Vapula is that he is going to feel rather foolish if he doesn't get his fingers into this because the underlying theme of the sequence is the great Divorce between Magick and Science. THIS MAY BE THE MOST SIGNIFICANT LETTER YOU RECEIVE
THIS YEAR!!

Please follow the instructions of this letter very carefully,

Greetings,

Hopefully, my name is still on the list. When I first read the letter,
I thought it was some off-the-wall idea to make money. A week
later I met again with my client to discuss the issue. I told him
that the letter originally brought to me was not 100% legal.
I advised him to make a small change in the letter and it would
be alright.

I was curious about the letter, so he told me how it works.
I thought it was a long shot, so I decided against participating.
Before my client left, I asked him to keep me updated as to
his results. About two months later he called to tell me that
he had received over $800,000 in cash!! I didn't believe him
so he asked me to try the plan and see for myself. I thought
about it for a few days and decided that there was not much
to lose. I followed the instructions exactly and mailed out
200 letters. Sure enough the money started coming in!! It
came slowly at first, but after three weeks I was getting more
than I could open in a day. After about three months the
money stopped coming. I kept a precise record of my
earnings and at the end they totaled $868,439.00!

I was earning a good living as a lawyer, but as anyone
in the legal profession will tell you, there is a lot of stress
that comes with the job. I told myself if things worked
out I would retire from practice and play golf. I decided
to try the letter again, but this time I sent out 500 letters.
Well, three months after that I had totaled $2,344,178.00!!
I just couldn't believe it. I met my old client for lunch to find
out exactly how this program works. He told me that there were a
few similar letters going around. What made this one
different is the fact that there are seven names on the
letter, not five like most others. This fact, alone, resulted
in more returns. The other factor was the advice I gave
him in making sure the whole thing was perfectly legal,
since no one wants to risk doing anything illegal.

I bet now you are curious about what changes I told him to
make. Well, if you send a letter like this out, to be legal,
you must sell something if you expect to receive a dollar.
I told him that anyone sending a dollar out must receive
something in return. So when you send a dollar to each
of the seven names on the list you must include a piece
of paper saying "please put me on you mailing list" and
include your name and mailing address.

Follow these simple instructions exactly and in less
that three months you will receive over $800,000.00.

A) Mail a $1 bill (wrapped in a piece of blank paper) to each
of the seven names below. Include a note (typed or handwritten
saying "Please add me to your mailing list" and include
your name and mailing address. You MUST include this note for
this to be legal.

1. H.D. Lambert, P.O. Box 155, Opelika, AL 36803
2. Don Stone, 245 Lous Court, Watsonville, CA 95076
3. Exertions Box 44 Ridgeland, MS 39158
4. R. Colwell, 7611 Barberton Drive, Houston, TX 77036
5. L. Jenkins, 3303 Cumberland Dr., Missouri City, TX 77459
6. M.L. Potzer RR#1 Box #1981, Berwick, PA 18603
7. D.Shattuck 2000 N.E. 259th St. Ridgefield, WA 98642

B) Remove the name next to #1 at the top of the list and
move the rest of the names up one position. Then place your
name in the #7 spot. This is done by saving this to a file and
the entering your information on line #7. Be very careful when
you type the addresses and be sure to proof read them.

C) When you have completed the above instructions you have
an option of mailing your new letter in two ways. 1) Through US
Postal Service or 2) through e-mail. This letter has been proven
perfectly legal for both ways as long as you follow the above
instructions, because you're purchasing membership in our
exclusive mailing list. To mail this out over the internet, you
could browse through areas and find people to send this to
all the time. All you have to do is cut and paste e-mail addresses
whenever you are on the internet. Or you can use a Mass E-mail
Network to mail your letter in large volumes for you. We highly
recommend this method.
Contact this Bulk E-mail Company now. They have the lowest
rates on the net and they are fast, provide effective results and give
excellent service. They are running a special for $89.00 per
100,000 mailings and if you order now they are giving away
an extra 50,000 mailings free. The number is
207-896-7915.

Send this letter to thousands, even millions. This will bring you
big payoffs.

***Keep in mind there is no limit to the amount of names you could
send out. The more names you send, the more money you will
make. We strongly encourage you to mail this letter to family and
friends as well.

THIS IS A SERVICE AND IS 100% LEGAL!!!
(refer to title 18, section 1302 & 1342 of the U.S. Postal and Lottery
Laws). This program is also legal in Canada.

Assume for example, that you get 7.5% return rate, which is
very conservative. My first attempt was about 9.5% and my
second was over 11%.

1) When you mail out 200 letters, 15 people will send
out $1.00
2) Those 15 people mail out 200 letters and 225 people
send you $1.00
3) Those 225 mail out 200 letters and 3,375 people
send you $1.00
4) Those 3,375 people mail out 200 letters and 50,625
send you $1.00
5) Those 50,625 people mail out 200 letters and 759,375 people
send you $1.00
6) Those 759,375 people mail out 200 letters and 11,390,625 people
send you $1.00

At this point, your name drops off the list. Think about it.
With only the first six levels, you have received over
$813,615.00!!

Smile all the way to the bank.
