What if the Ethereal Gods have got it all backwards? Instead of their claim of God being a jumped up version of them being true they are in fact splinters of him. God took the Fall harder than everyone thought and portions of him that didn't want to deal with it split off. Kronos was found in the Marches after all. What if every Ethereal god (or at least every head of a pantheon, like Zeus, Odin, Ra, etc) is actually an amnesiac splinter of the one God, adopting aspects from human perception. When Kronos was first found, he didn't know who or what he was. It took both him and Lucifer working together to figure it out. So it's not inconcievable that the Ethereal Gods don't know their true nature, and that their claiming God was once one of them is a distorted memory of the Truth. It would be like the manifestations of God being like a spectrum, with Yves on one end, Kronos on the other, and benevolent to manevolent Ethereals ranging from one to the other. Puts a whole new spin on the Purity Crusade. Maybe Uriel somehow found out the Truth and decided to destroy the impure splinters which God in his wisdom had purged from him. And God ended it because he didn't like Uriel destroying parts of him. Or maybe Uriel thought by slaying them, he would send the splinters to the Upper Heavens where they would reunite with God. And God stopped him for the above reason. Or God stopped him because Uriel was right and he didn't want those parts of him to be reintergrated. Yves did start monotheism going with one of the goals being to undermine worship of the Ethereals. Maybe Yves is an aspect of God's personality that doesn't want to lose its dominance on God's power. In a very backwards campaign, maybe Yves engineered the Fall itself, subtly goading Lucifer, so that Kronos and other aspects of God's very complex personality splintered off, leaving only him as the main influence on the Divine power. So, what ramifications and plot seeds would this Sideways Backwards campaign premise suggest? Any ideas?
