It's SJ Games' policy not to discuss upcoming supplements that have not been announced on the Web site. You've all seen the release date shuffle we've had this fall (latest news: flooding in India is likely to delay some ship dates...sigh); let me assure you that the release dates we *haven't* announced have been shuffled as much or more. What you've heard is Elizabeth's "wish list." I'm afraid she may have given you the mistaken impression that all of those Superiors books are actually being lined up. (She did add disclaimers, but perhaps not strongly enough.) It's my personal opinion (obligatory disclaimer about me not being a SJG employee or spokesperson) that the IN line is not dead per se, but it's probably not going to have anywhere near the level of support it's had for the past three years. The Superiors splatbooks haven't sold that well, from what I've heard. I have some first-hand data about how well the GMG has sold. (The royalty checks list the exact number sold in the past quarter. It seems to do well enough for a marginal supplement from a marginal line, but I think the fact that I actually made more money from the books for which I was paid a flat fee than from those for which I'm paid royalties is not encouraging. I can readily picture many GMGs gathering dust on gamestore shelves across the nation. Hey, go buy one and pay for my morning cup of coffee! ) And of course there is the EPG, which I cowrote (note the past tense), which is still hovering in limbo, and no telling when it will accumulate enough Essence to get out. I am currently editing a GURPS book, and not currently working on anything In Nomine-related, if that tells you anything. I don't mean this to be doom and gloom, even if I am the resident list prick ;), but y'all really need to get over the idea that you're going to see a supplement a month, or even a supplement every two months. It's possible SJG will surprise me and introduce a souped up printing schedule for the coming year, but the fact that no progress is being made on a book that's ALREADY BEEN WRITTEN doesn't speak well of the prospects for books that are in the pre-planning stage. My personal prediction is that you will be able to count on the fingers of one hand the number of supplements you'll see for In Nomine in the coming year, and have fingers left over. And that might actually be a multiple-year projection. And I'm counting the calendar. Now, I would be delighted if Elizabeth announces a printing schedule tomorrow and proves me completely wrong. But the bottom line is, you'll probably be a lot of better off collaborating on netbooks and using what you get from this list (and the ever-prolific Mr. Lane) than waiting for anything from SJG. - -David ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 23:42:17 -0600 From: "Charles Glasgow" Subject: Re: IN> Re: An Affair of Honor - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Maurice Lane" To: Sent: Wednesday, November 15, 2000 11:35 PM Subject: Re: IN> Re: An Affair of Honor > Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 16:19:04 ESTFrom: > MarkDEddy@aol.com > Subject: Re: IN> Re: An Affair of Honor > > >I saw Michael's favor as being a red rose on gold > >silk - thus Gabriel. > > That could have its moments. Relievers, if you stretch the point a bit, are pretty similar (compared to fully-fledged angels), and why bother being an Archangel if you can't stretch the occasional point? Over the last few centuries, Christopher has found himself getting more and more involved in formally educating relievers for Earth duty. Even though it's less complicated to just implant the information in someone's head, Superiors are busy entities. Teaching languages, Earth customs, basic knowledge, and so forth takes more time, but it's a job that any well-trained angel or blessed soul can do. Christopher, with the help of Blandine, has created an unique dreamscape in the Vale, simply called the School. There, relievers (and the occasional child-soul) attend classes, interact, and generally get a feel for life on Earth. There are many, many different areas to the school, each based on a current human culture or area: the relievers thus soak up relevant social customs and attitudes in much the same way human children do. Needless to say, it's defended to a fare-thee-well. Or so they think. A Servitor of Children had the misfortune to Fall a while back. Before he was routinely eviscerated (Christopher has the lowest percentage of successful Fallen of any Archangel, mostly because he doesn't ever, ever stop coming after you if you betray him), the new demon managed to reveal the general location of the school to agents of Nightmares. Heaven doesn't suspect that Hell knows. A nice little raid should decimate the Host's ability to blend in with humanity for years to come. Unless you're part of a game that doesn't blanch at the mass elimination of cute, innocent little tykes, you may want to play the angels on this one. The party could either get wind of this before it happens (and burn feathers trying to get the word to the Host before the hammer goes down), or just be in the area when the first probing attack comes. Either way, holding off the raiding party is almost guaranteed to make Christopher very, very happy with you (he'll show up in person as soon as he hears of this. Quite quickly, and very infuriated, might I add). For an odd twist, you could play some of the relievers themselves (6 to 8 Forces, with some Songs). Everyone remember the movie :Toy Soldiers:? Just like that (not too unlikely, actually: the dreamscape's a powerful weapon, if used right). Just try not to be Wil Wheaton's character. ===== In Nomine stuff: http://www.stormloader.com/users/moelane/innomine.html Everything else (not that there is, right now): http://www.stormloader.com/users/moelane/main.html Last updated 9/5/00 (this is usually way out of date) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I'd recommend a whole lot of child-souls, to help relievers get the feel of humanity, and a teaching staff of adult souls and only those angels who've had a lot of Earth experience. Isaac Archangel of Time "Everything will work out in the end, I have seen this." The Archangel of Time is an ancient being (as the holder of the word would have to be) who has a history to the earliest days of god's creation. His word however was not awarded to him until recently though, seemingly signalling a great change in the Seraphim Council and the potentiality of the War. Isaac is a Seraph who has served under numerous superiors in his time on Earth but became fascinated with potentiality and history that when he was finally petitioned for a word by his Superior (then Eli) Yves suggested the word of Time be awarded to him instead of his request for reasons that remain as yet enigmatic. Appearing as a well dressed man in a variety of ages in his appearences, Isaac always has a far away look in his eyes for even the most pressing of business. Only a few times has his complete and undivided attention been focused on something and usually this is the statement of something profound about to effect the course of the War. His most common forms are that of a small boy who stares at the sky, a middle aged man with a number of watches on his arm and a gold pocketwatch, and a figure who can only be likened to the popular image of Father Time. As expected Isaac is a firm enemy of the Prince of Fate and Kronos reserves his hatred for Time servitors second only to the servants of Yves. Servitors of Time are primarily devoted with their business on Earth to the preservation of History, Teaching, Advising, and oddly enough the promotion of scientiffic study of space/time in laboratories. A number of Earthly prophets have found themselves in the service of the Archangel as soldiers and even normal angels seem to possess an uncanny connection to the Symphony, it is generally viewed that Isaiah is like Gabrielle...a prophet himself. His followers are for the most part like their Archangel and extremely introspective with calm, polite, and slightly condescending demeanors as they seem to be always waiting for everyone else to catch up to them in trains of thought...this is not universally true of course and a number of his followers are staunch ruthless traditionalists, children of chaos that rival Gabrielle for madness, and flittering flightly beings who seem to have the attention spans of insects. Oddly Isaac has no seeming preference for any of these behaviors and only rarely punishes his followers for even gross insubordination, confident of outcomes. This, despite his association with Yves, has made Dominic uneasy. Choir Attunements: Seraphim: Seraphs of Time are philosophers and scientists of the Symphony with most of their time devoted to increasing mankind's understanding of it and it's workings. Seraphs of Time can never lose track of time and have perfect knowledge of it. Thus Seraphim of Time know how long has passed im even the odd times of the Marches and Celestial realms, can guess how long any task will take, and how fast someone will move to the microsecond (giving them +1 to intiatives). Cherubim: Cherubim of Time are intimately aware of the patterns of time and how they will interact with their charges. Thus a Cherubim is allowed 1d6 questions to the past, present, and future of their target every sunrise with the answers increasingly vague with the greater encompassment of the question (and unable to gain any knowledge if tainted by diabolic intervention). Cherubim of Time are charged with gaurding teachers, scientists, historians, and the like from the ravages of demons and thus are the most martial of his servitors after the Malakim. Elohim: Elohim of Time are the advisors of mankind, initimately tied to the future in order to best aid them in achieving the best possible outcme for reactions (not necessarily destiny though they seem to get along very well with servitors of Yves). Elohim of time when using their resonance automatically get an extra person's reaction to at least one situation and triple the number of knowledges to the future when they achieve a 6 on their resonance roll. Kyriorites: Intimately tied to the past as the Elohim are tied to the future, Kyriorites when they concentrate can "rewind" through a possesed hosts's memories and pause at will to review them. If a subject was possesed during a period, the Kyriorite recieves nothing but "static". Malakim: Malakim of Time are devoted to the destruction of disharmony with the "proper flow of things" before it occurs. While openly more philosophical than most Malakim they're resonance allows them to detect a person's most honorable and dishonorable possible action in the next future 24 hours. Ofanim: Olfanim are the ultimate travelers and they themselves so readily boast to it. Chaos bringers who put the worst theives of Janus to shame, Olfanim have the ability to travel an hour ahead of time for every force they possess (and a fellow angel for the same). Mercurians: Mercurians of Time are devoted simply to making sure humans are aware of how much and how little time they have left. Mercurians by touch can gain a vision of what a human has done and possibly will do with a sucessful resonance check. The more sucessful the resonance the more clear the vision (though even the clearest are aprocryphal). Servitor Attunements: Flow An ability likened far too much to a popular sci fi film starring Keanu Reeves, Flow allows a Angel of Time to move his perception of the Symphony slightly and thus affect the reality of it...a very controversial power. With the expenditure of 3 essence any wielder of this ability can cause someone to lose an action for a turn or gain an extra action during it. Time-Out An amazingly powerful ability that requires the expedniture of 6 essence, Time out causes simply the character to step out of the Symphony proper for a minute for every force he posseses. With a sucessful resisted will roll, the angel can bring other beings and objects aside from his person into this "state" as well though until such they are unaffectable by any means. Distinctions: Vassal of Time This ability allows a servitor of time to be able to detect any disruptions to the natural flow of Time in the Symphony within one mile per force he posseses. This includes uses of many of Kronos's attunements, the Song of Entropy, and a number of other things though not most uses of Time servitor abilities (only when will is involved). Time-Walker This oddly named distinction allows a personage possesing it to walk through the past of the Symphony and view events as if he were present there, though he has no ability to affect events whatsoever. Events occur in real time and space and thus one must move around alot to get a full view of a situation and with often many trips. The person returns when done to the location he intiated this power exactly as long after as he spent in the past. Master of the Past and Present An ability Dominic is seriously investigating for the crime of Pride and possibly heresay, he is not sure that it is not God's will and would likely discover great opposition to any attempt to prosecute wielders of it. With a sucessful perception roll, a wielder of the ability may percieve or affect events up to 10 seconds earlier...and affect the outcome though he costs a permanent celestial force which Isaac is unlikely to restore.
