While I do understand that EDG is a very busy person, I think that to help the IN line grow in popularity the site needs to be constantly updated. While it might not hurt quite as much as no new books, a non-updated site still hurts the growth of a game line. Oddly enough, fan sites also can help or hinder a game line. The problem is that the Online Editor position is an unpaid position, and when you don't get any money for it, it becomes less of a priority than, say, one's brand new baby. Like the play MacBeth, the Online Editor position seems to have been frought with peril. I had originally redesigned the INC page, and used SSI with the thinking that it would make it easier to update. (Maybe if I had used CSS for all the pages?) But I was run over by the real world -- and never emerged. Even my writing schedule is booked clear through to 2001 at the moment. I handed the position over to Eslin, who assured me that she'd be able to stay on top of it, and she disappeared two weeks later. EDG got the position, and then he found himself with a serious case of life. My suggestion is this: if you want to maintain the site, it might be worth it to approach Beth and explicitly say that you're interested in taking it over the position and that you're NOT going to suddenly wander off. - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Emily K. Yes, they can. Since a Superior is required to make an angel, and they can add Forces to angels pretty much at will, it's not a big stretch to imagine they can just go straight to the target. Usually, yes. But I can imagine exceptions. For instance, I can imagine Eli deliberately creating an angel with maxed-out Ethereal and Celestial forces, just to get a child prodigy equivalent, then turn it loose with a couple of long-suffering cherubim to keep it out of trouble. And Belial might sometimes whip up Calabim with maxed Corporeal forces and one each in Ethereal and Celestial, as basic heavy artillery. Sort of like "sheep." But this has always bugged me, because the "-im" ending is the Hebrew *PLURAL*, for crying in a bucket. Couldn't it have at least been "Lilite," in parallel with "Calabite" and "Shedite"? In any case, I have wondered for a long time what the actual singular form of "lilim" was. I may have found it in the bibliographical notes on a web-site for Lilith, at: http://ccat.sas.upenn.edu/humm/Topics/Lilith/bib.html#PATAI78 "In his book Biblical Perspectives on Death, Bailey 1979 notes that incubus/succubus spirits could cause disease, kill small children (perhaps an early ref to "crib death"), and have more than just social intercourse with adults. These demons were called lili (female) and lilu (male) [page 10-11, I think]." So: lili and lilu. I suppose that, like ducks and cows, lilim default to feminine, so the singular of "lilim" should be "lili" unless it is known to be in a male vessel. If it weren't already too late. Earl P.S.: My father remarks that it is very unusual for Hebrew nouns to end in vowels, and says they look Akkadian to him, so they may be borrows from that language. That would make sense if, as I have read elsewhere (like at that site above) the figure of Lilith came from Babylonian mythology in the first place. ------------------------------ Date: 11 May 2000 10:02:31 -0700 From: Casca Subject: Re: IN> New Heretic Superior (Yup, another one) On Thu, 11 May 2000, Earl Wajenberg wrote: > Blandine - a dove, or maybe a luna moth It hasn't yet come up in a game, but I have always suspected some variation upon an owl. > Christopher - a bear, as in teddy, or maybe a sheepdog A big, cuddly dog seems entirely apropos. > Zadkiel - a lioness or tigress I my game she has been represented as a dove, but with the beak, talons and size of a raptor. - -- Casca "...I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of His robe filled the temple. I must have been sleeping when the demonic pins were announced, since I didn't get to look at them until now. Eh. I'm a little disappointed. Most of the demonic pins just look 'evil'. They don't seem to have much to do with the band they represent except for the Lilim pin. They're cool looking, but they just lack that something that the angel pins have. I also note there's no Habbalah pin...maybe I'll have to get the Elohim pin and do something horrible to it... - -- +----------------------------------------------------------------+ | Jason F. However, you can rule that since undead's souls are bound to theur bodies, Kyrios _ca't_ displace them. (Undead lose their dreamscapes, after all - no place forr the kyrio to displace 'em...) I think it's in the IPG that only Shedim of Death can possess undead?
