Go for understated, it's much more frightening in the modern age. Lots of stainless steel and indirect lighting. A few servitors who /think/ that they're humans or angels who were famously good, and are nonetheless condemned. A few pieces of Nazi memorabilia, with small discrete labels - just to show that he was on top of the whole thing. The same for Stalin, Pol Pot and other murderous dictators of your choice. Also, the Yakuza is as much respected as feared in Japan -- their relationship to the populace isn't quite the same as that of the Mafia over here. The Yaks are a combination of organized crime, labor unions and vigilante groups. Sure, much of what they do is illegal, but there are plenty of Nipponese who don't hold it against them. ===== Michael Walton, #9805-068 "You have walked through the halls of power and have somehow managed to remain untouched. While it's a very good system, I thought I'd delurk for a few questions on some items: 1. I'm a little unclear about how the whole Kyriotate possession thing works. Is the Forces thing merely a guideline to how many hosts they can actually possess (i.e. a 10 Force Kyrio could possess 2 humans, but could act in either as a 10 Force being) or are they litterally splitting their Forces in possession (i.e. using my example, the Kyrio acts as two 5 force humans instead of effectively two 10 Force beings)? I'm assuming the former since it seems complicated to figure out exactly how the Kyrio splits his Forces every time and it ruins the "Kyrio takes over someone to lift that car off their kid" scenario if the Kyrio can't use more Corporeal Forces than the host has. 2. Could a Renegade Lilim use Lilith's Rites since they don't require having a Heart with Lilith, just accepting her dissonance conditions? I know they would seem to be upholding her Word quite well, but I'd assume Asmodeus would be... quite unpleasant to someone directly supporting Renegades with an Essence supply. And on a similar note, are Lilith's Rites restricted to Lilim only or can other Bands use them if they accept the dissonance conditions? This assumes, of course, their Prince doesn't vaporize them for the "disloyalty" naturally :). 3. Does performing a Rite create any sort of disturbance, or is the Essence gain undetectable? 4. Do Renegades/Outcasts have to have one level 3 Discord, or is it 3 levels total of different Discords? And does a Fallen angel keep their Discord? 5. [...] My understanding is thus: The total number of Forces determines how many Hosts it can possess. However, whenever in those hosts it uses the full forces available to itself. (Which means if you have a 1 Corp Force Kyrio possess a 3 Corp Force Soldier of God, then you might be skirting Dissonance.) > 2. Could a Renegade Lilim use Lilith's Rites since they don't require > having a Heart with Lilith, just accepting her dissonance conditions? I feel that this is an iffy place. I mean, really the difference between a Free Lilim and a Renegade Lilim is that the Free Lilim hasn't done anything to be caught. > can other Bands use them if they accept the dissonance conditions? I believe so. It's mentioned in Lilith's Expanded writeup, if I'm not totallty mistaken. > 3. Does performing a Rite create any sort of disturbance, or is the Essence > gain undetectable? I think it depends on the situation. If I rite requires you to burn a house down, then you're more than likely to create some disturbance with the corporeal damage you inflicted. > 4. Do Renegades/Outcasts have to have [Discord]? I don't _think_ they have too, but then I've never really created Renegades/Outcasts before. I do know that all but Technology and Fate's Calabim _have_ to start with Discord (the first should be for the obvious reason, and the second is something to do with the Calabite of Fate attunement). > 5. Well, as I put the suggestion, I didn't mean to imply anything about *where* the resurrected Ethereals were coming from, much less that they were in the Upper Heavens with Uriel. If you want to add that as an additional complication, that's fine, of course. As to whether they "have souls," I always assumed they did, because they have celestial and ethereal forces. Just because they're destructible doesn't tell us anything one way or the other about their havng souls, since angels and human souls can also be destroyed in this game.
