Rigziel, his SUV, and his pathological hatred for his brother, are all my fine creations, made before my brain was engulfed in a never-ending orgy of Big Eyes Small Mouth. Like most of my creations, they kind of wander off without me. I gave him the axe, but never named it -- I suspect that showed up somewhere else. I needed something that he could chop up a certain Balseraph up with and leave him in mealy chunks. I took a very brief look, and I could find just about every NPC I wrote up for Holy War save Rigziel -- dozens and dozens of the suckers, several without any names. He probably appeared on a piece of notebook paper somewhere and has long since been thrown away. Here's what I can remember: Once upon a time, after the Fall, Michael made two identical Seraphim, Teriel and Rigziel. They frolicked and killed off bad guys together. They were happy. One day, after the Crucifixion, as the two worked as freedom fighters in Syria, a moral question gripped one brother, Teriel. There was a minor spat, and Teriel wandered off to wrestle with this issue himself. And Teriel didn't come back. Rigziel, frantic, searched for his brother for years, but could not find him. He had just given Teriel up for dead when Teriel reappeared as Teraphim, Balseraph of Factions. Rigziel first tried to "save" his brother, but quickly settled on chopping him into kibble as the more expedient way of dealing with the problem. All of Terry's incarnations end with "... and Rigziel killed me." The two fought through various promotions and changes. In modern day, Rigziel is a big, bad, nasty high-powered, word-wielding Seraph of War, and Terry is a not-really-as-bad-but-could-be-if-he-thought-about-it, Balseraph of Media. ********** Emily K. Although as a planner his battle tactics would probably revolve around laying the holy smacketh down on all demons and heading back to Heaven for punch and pie. In my games I have given Laurence a sub-council of Worded Angels who direct and advise on various sections of The War. Each one comes from the major Superiors, even those that don't actively persecute The War. Laurence's job is to bring all of Heaven together under one flag and I thought this was a good way of doing it. If the Superiors don't see eye to eye then perhaps a Servitor will. The Angel from The Sword is Mekariel the Seraph Angel of Thrusts and Parrys who draws off the metaphoric interpretation of Laurence's Word. I placed him at Laurence's side and gave him a great deal of clout with the sub council and with the Seraphim Council itself. He does sit on both as a Master of the Armies of God. To paraphrase the list rules regarding Casting Calls.... "This topic has been done to death and is declared off-limits for the list. If you want to take a survey about it, put the results on a web page, and post the link, fine." But nobody's ever done it. Until now. This is my attempt to enact the first (and last, probably) OFFICIAL In Nomine Casting Call. "First" because nobody's ever done a comprehensive, nomination-and-voting-style collection of it... just a casual discussion and/or selection by fiat. "Last, probably" because there shouldn't really be a need for it after this... hopefully, the whole list will participate, and we'll get a true picture of what the group consensus will be. On top of that, newbies are welcome to vote as well, AFTER the fact, which may eventually change things. Nothing wrong with that. Here's how it's going to work: 1. I post this message, including the ballot below. It includes every (confirmed) living Superior today, including Lucifer himself. 2. Everyone replies to me, OFF-LIST, with their nominees. You may nominate up to TWO actors for each Superior. Actors after the first two will be ignored. Each actor will be considered equally - you don't have to list your favorite first. You CAN nominate an actor for more than one Superior. You cannot nominate an actor TWICE for the same Superior in an attempt to skew the number of nominations they've recieved. :) You have until July 21st (three weeks) to send your nominations to me. (That's DIRECTLY to me. NOT on the list.) One notice will be sent to the list every week as a reminder. 3. I pare each Superior down to the top five (more or less) nominees. I say "more or less" in case of ties, etc. An actor must recieve at least two nominations to be considered in the final vote. 4. Everyone replies to me, OFF-LIST, with their votes. Only one vote per Superior, sorry. If you vote for more than one actor per Superior, only the first mentioned will be considered the actual vote. You MAY vote for the same actor for more than one Superior. You will have until August 4th (two weeks) to send your nominations to me. (That's DIRECTLY to me. NOT on the list.) One notice will be sent to the list after one week as a reminder. 5. I will post the results on a special web page, and post the link on the list. The web page will remain up (hopefully) forever, and newbies who want to discuss casting calls can be referred there to see what "we" think as compared to what they think... they can even vote. Everyone's happy! Buuuuuuuuut, why not be entertainment-magazine-like and have a cut-off point. Besides, actors might die in the future who are already on the list... we're going to have to have a 'default' cut-off point of 'today' anyways; we can shift it to an easier date without hurting anything. New rule: 2a. The actors being nominated must have been alive as of January 1st, 2000. Dying after this point (even after the final voting) will not affect their qualification for the casting call.
