Well, I recently finished reading the fantastic American Gods, by Neil Gaiman (a book which should get a credit at the end of the EPG, if any does) If you haven't read it yet, do so. Anyhow, some of the characters inspired me to write this: S P O I L E R S P A C E The Agency Everyone knows they exist. A shadowy governmental agency that answers to no-one but themselves, able to call on the might of the Military, law enforcement, and Special Agencies such as the CIA/FBI/NSA They are equipped with advanced technology of possibly alien origin. They turn up in the wake of unexplained phenomena, and beguile, intimidate and manipulate witnesses into silence. Men (and women) in sharp designer suits, who drive blacked out sedans. Who vanish without a trace after they've done their job. Who no-one can remember exactly what they look like. Everyone knows they exist. They are firmly entrenched in the ultural psyche. EVERYONE knows they exist. No-one can prove it. Belief is a powerful thing... In the past 50 years, a new breed of Ethereal has sprung up, in parallel with such other Pop-culture spirits as the Benevolent Space Brothers and the Greys. Call them Majestic 12, call them Men In Black, call them the New World Order, call them a host of other names. They call themselves The Agency. Their mandate is to investigate and uppress Unexplainable Phenomena. The irony of their true nature is utterly lost on them. Angels of Revelation assigned to investigate these mysterious Ethereals have pinned down four distinct types of Agent. Operative The most common of the Agency's members, These Spirits are usually (90%) male, and almost all have Rugged, yet non-descript vessels. They work in teams of 2 or 3, performing the tasks of scouting and groundwork. They are almost always lightly armed (beretta 9mm pistols, Concealable body armour (Prot 3)). Assumed names are generally average and common for the area they appear or taken from mundane concepts like 'Town' or 'Wood', but in the last 2 years the number of 'Agent Smith's has increased significantly. Corp 2: Str 4, Agi 4 Eth 2: Int 3, Pre 5 Cel 1: Wil 2, Per 2 Vessel: Human (usually Male)/3 Charisma -1 Skills: Lying/4, Fast Talk/4, Ranged Weapon(Pistol)/5, Detect Lies/4, Drive/3, Move Silently/2 Songs: Tongues (Eth)/6, Form (Corp)/4 - -- Investigator rarer than the Operative, but still quite common, are the Investigators. These Ethereals generally turn up should the subjects of the investigation be suspected of witholding information from the Operatives. They will also follow up any unusual activity reported by the Operatives. They are generally non-combatant, but can use pistols fairly effectively. Usually seen singly or in pairs (which are almost always 1 male, 1 female), They are more perceptive and intelligent that the Operatives, and not so quick to rationalise away unusual phenomena. (It would appear that the male/female pairing is a recent phenomena, only becoming noticable as a trend in the last decade or so) Corp 1: Str 2, Agi 2 Eth 2: Int 5, Pre 3 Cel 2: Wil 4, Per 4 Vessel: Human/3 Charisma +1 Skills: Lying/3, Fast Talk/3, Ranged Weapon(Pistol)/4, Detect Lies/4, Drive/3 Knowledge(two from either Chemistry/2, Physics/1, Biology/3 or Forensics/4), Move Silently/3 Songs: Attraction (Eth)/1, (Cel)/3, Tongues (Eth)/6, Form (Corp)/4 (Eth)/3, Light (Eth)/2 - -- Troubleshooter Should either an Operative team, or Investigators come up against strong resistance, or in those cases where The Agency need to cover something up, one or more Troubleshooters will be called in. These Agents are much more formidable than their regular counterparts, armed as they are with a wide range of songs, including some considered secret or lost They will set about destroying evidence, erasing witnesses memories, and dealing with any threats to the Ageny's operatives. They are usually accompanied by 3-6 heavily armed (Submachinegun, Flak Jacket) Operatives. Should a serious threat present itself, local law enforcement or military resources may be commandeered. Corp 2: Str 4, Agi 4 Eth 2: Int 3, Pre 5 Cel 2: Will 5, Per 3 Vessel: Human/5 Discord: Palid/1 Skills: Lying/4, Fast Talk/4, Ranged Weapon(Pistol)/5, Detect Lies/5, Drive/4, Knowledge(two from either Chemistry/3, Physics/2, Biology/4 or Forensics/5) Tactics/4, Fighting (Military Hth)/4, Move Silently/4 Songs: Attraction (Cel)/3, Tongues (Eth)/6, Form (All)/5, Light (Eth)/3 (Cel)/4, Oblivion (Corp)/3 (Eth)/3, Forgetting (Corp)/4 (Eth)/4 - -- Enforcer Should a non-agency investigative team get too close to the Agency's operation, or witness them using their 'Psionic powers', and escape the resultant coverup the Agency will despatch one or more enforcers to deal with the problem. Quite capable or ripping an average human in two, they can even give average angels a run for their money (at least corporeally). Corp 4: Str 8, Agi 8 Eth 1: Int 1, Pre 3 Cel 1: Wil 2, Per 2 Vessel: Hulking Humanoid/6 Charisma -2 Discord: Palid/2 Skills: Fighting (brawling)/5, Ranged weapon(pistol)/3, Tracking/4 Move Silently/4, Running/3 Songs: Attraction (Cel)/4, Form (All)/4, Light (Eth)/2 (Cel)/5, Might (Corp)/3, NC(Claws)/6 - -- Agency Abilities: Persuasion: Everyone knows that these mysterious agents can call on local law enforcement and the military. Even local law enforcement and the military. just because you've not heard of this particular TLA before doesn't mean they're not legit. All Agency operatives (of all types) have a bonus equal to their Eth forces when using Lying or Fast-talk to convince legal or military institutions to provide assistance (from Material to Manpower), or to convince them of the legitimacy of the Agency. Advanced technology: Everyone knows that The Agency uses highly advanced technology. Some common devices are: Stealth Aircraft (Relic/3, Corp Motion/3, Cel Motion/2, Eth Shields/2) Mind control devices (Will Shackles/4) Stun Rods (Relic/3, Thunder/3) Other relics, such as Devil-chaser whips have also been reported. Both Revelations and Lightning would dearly like to know where The Agency get their Relics. Especially the Stealth Aircraft. Mundane Equipment: A hideously wide variety of mundane weaponry has been exibited by Agency agents, from Tazers to Bazookas. In sufficient numbers, they would certainly pose a threat to any Celestial groups that earn their ire. - -FallenSeraph "tausend graue M䵳e mit blauen M䵳eh䵳ern" http://www.geocities.com/archangel_nine ICQ: 110193631 _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 02 Mar 2002 03:47:02 From: "Perry Lloyd" Subject: [none] silly, silly Haagenti ... http://malafex.topcities.com/ ... he really likes to poke fun at Jordi. - -Perry perrylloyd@hotmail.com pl312993@oak.cats.ohiou.edu http://www.geocities.com/perrylloyd/ "And that's the hardest thing for a human being to do - be wrong.
