Is it a question on mech or eletronic devices or could be on people and object, too(like relic and so on) ? What is the limit of power ? What is the form of answer given by calculator (single words or a complex text) ? 2)If someone (i.e. a poor mundane policeman) strike a Servitor of War he must forcely attack the offender ? If the Servitor avoid combat with policeman get dissonance ? Servitor of Michael, if attacked, always must enter in any conflict or he could choice ? Thanks. There is nothing Dissonant about walking away from a fight like this. The Dissonance condition applies when the angel has committed to a battle. If they make a choice to not enter a conflict, they would be in the clear. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Mar 2002 09:41:17 -0500 From: Earl Wajenberg Subject: Re: IN> Red in Tooth and Claw Nicely done, and there must surely be a Demon of Vampires somewhere in Saminga's hierarchy. Simple. They're bound minions of these Architects, who didn't /create/ them, but merely control them and change their memories. Oh, and every Tether is actually an Enigma tied into the Shadowland, and these Architects are so powerful partially because they've worked out a way to have life links to multiple Enigmas. What is the form of answer given >by calculator (single words or a complex text) ? No, you _are_ a lightning calculator -- you have the ability to do math in your head. So if you know the weight of your stone, the strength of your catapult, and the range to your target (and you can do all the calculations for range and shadows and things), you know how many degrees of elevation and whatnot you require to hit the target. Or you can adjust for estimated wind, rifle inaccuracies, and be a fine sniper. Or you can run down someone's account books and see all the double-booking errors and slippages that might be there. O:> Or you can do about anything else that would normally require someone to have a calculator to do -- thus the _PLAYER_ is allowed to keep a calculator to hand. >2)If someone (i.e. a poor mundane policeman) strike a Servitor of War he >must forcely attack the offender ? Dodge is a very good skill to have if you want to avoid fights. O:> That, and Running. (When it is tactically preferable, Michael understands. Better to achieve the goal in a "hit and run," after all.) However, also note the "without orders" clause in their Dissonance Condition (she said, working strictly from memory on this one) -- if they have appropriate orders from a superior/Superior/superior officer, they don't _HAVE_ to stand and fight to the death. A Michaelite who has orders to "Avoid conflict with mundanes, as possible" does not need to worry about punching anyone back. And just standing there and taking it, while repugnant to many (I would suspect), is not necessarily _dissonant_, provided they have appropriate orders to keep them out of trouble. Each sock puppet ties up 2 Forces. Rites: Make a sock puppet. Well, actually, Agnellus didn't precisely expect to actually get this particular Word. It was sort of a joke, you see? No, really. The Kyriotate has always had a peculiar sense of humor - one reason why it switched over from Laurence's service to Michael's. It's not that the Archangel of the Sword is humorless, exactly, but Laurence does have a strong sense of decorum - and Agnellus doesn't. All in all, the Kyriotate was giving an excellent impression of a square peg in a round hole, so everybody concerned decided that War might be a better career choice than the Sword. In Agnellus' case, everybody concerned was right. The Kyriotate fit right in as one of Michael's heavy hitters, being predisposed towards fairly direct methods of conflict resolution. Its rise through the ranks was steady and straightforward: pretty soon, it was leading assaults, rather than just participating in them - and leading them well. That's what caused it all: you see, it went like this. Agnellus and his squad had stumbled across an Ethereal Tether aligned with Hell. Literally stumbled across it: one minute everything was nice and peaceful, the next the team was surrounded by honest-to-God hordes of demons and ethereals trying their level best to soul-kill them all. The squad broke free (trashing the Tether in the process), and then spent the next four days in a steadily-increasing nightmare of sudden attacks, desperate defenses, crushing fatigue and the more unpleasant parts of the Marches. When they finally found themselves in a place of safety, three of the ten Warriors were in Trauma, two were mildly dissonant from a too-liberal interpretation of their dissonance conditions and one was one good blow away from becoming a Remnant. On the other hand, they had managed to knock out two Ethereal Tethers, identify and weaken three Infernal ones and generally send an impressive number of demons to their Hearts. All in all, not bad for the home team ... so when Michael showed up, he was in a sufficiently good mood to promise to sponsor Agnellus for a Word. Did the Kyriotate have any suggestions? Agnellus swears that its response, "How about Sock Puppets?" was due to equal parts bone crushing fatigue, lingering aftereffects from barreling its way through countless Nightmares and sheer giddy relief at being alive. It was not supposed to be taken as a serious request - and it was certainly not meant to be acted upon. However, after a certain amount of experimentation Agnellus has found that the situation is actually not bad. Not bad at all. It's all how one looks at it. Sure, Sock Puppets are never going to be what one would call a heavyweight Word - but it has its place in War. Specifically, ambush; even now, demons have great difficulty believing that anyone wearing a sock puppet is going to be dangerous in a fight. Well, most times they'd be right, but then most times they aren't facing a sock puppet that is both knowledgeable in and competent at more than a dozen ways to turn an opponent into pate. For some reason, they seem to keep thinking that the danger is the person wearing the puppet, not the puppet itself: the Kyriotate takes advantage of this whenever possible. An especially fun trick for Agnellus is for it to possess a puppet or puppets, get it/them somehow onto an enemy's hand(s), then start materializing weapons from nowhere to shoot up the bad guys. Aside from the aesthetic issues, it makes avoiding dissonance so much easier... ===== Liber Licentiae Moeticae: http://www.stormloader.com/users/moelane/innomine.html Last updated 02/24/02(this is usually way out of date) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? In this state, the Kyriotate is not in control of the host, but is able to access all of his or her memories - - and, more importantly, it will be able to determine the hidden motivations of a person's actions. This allows Edward to s u b tly encourage or discourage behavior patterns. In game terms, treat this as a reaction roll: Edward's base target number is 6, plus the CD of the original resonance roll. Note that the host will not be aware of said reaction roll (or, of course, the original possession): all sudden changes in attitude will seem to be completely self-generated. Possessing someone in this way ties up all of Edward's Forces. Yes, this ability shows disturbing similarities to the Shedite resonance. That's why Dominic keeps a gimlet eye on Edward. Of course, the Kyriotate has also earned an Attunement from Judgement, which should also be a significant datum... Rites: Cause an individual to recognize the s u b conscious reasons for another's actions. Cause an individual to recognize the s u b conscious reasons for his or her own actions (+2 Essence). The contradictory impulses that drive most Servitors of Divine Fire are both quite present and quite active in Edward. On the one hand, the Kyriotate is powerfully drawn to Divine Fire's inspirational side. Edward takes a deep and comfortable pleasure in delicately encouraging its hosts into unlocking their creative powers, slowly and surely nurturing the Spark of inventiveness or artistry inside them until it blossoms. It likes to find the quiet ones - the thoughtful, silent people that just need a little encouragement, and so rarely get it. Edward, given time, can help them find their full potential. The only problem is, the Kyriotate often finds itself forced to kick the crap out of those who were blocking its host (via either mental or physical torment) to begin with. Well, that's fun too. Edward has gone round and round with the Inquisition on this particular issue: the usual mutual distrust between Judgement and Divine Fire is compounded by Edward's unique abilities, making the Kyriotate a frequent s u b ject for investigations. It probably doesn't help that Edward is already infamous for its ability to push the rules as far as they would go, then push them a little more for the heck of it. It certainly doesn't help that it gets away with said pushing on a regular basis: after all, one can't abuse regulations if one doesn't actually know them, and by now Edward is capable of correcting most Triads on tricky points of Angelic law. The fact that the Kyriotate does so with great vim and vigor should have been the final nail in its coffin: if there's anything that Judgement hates, it's a barracks-lawyer. Yet, for some bizarre and ineffable reason Edward's gotten away with it. Literally ineffable: the highlight (if you can call it that) of the Kyriotate's low-grade war with Judgement ended up with it being called before Dominic himself for questioning. Edward walked out of that interview notably s u b dued ... and with the Kyriotate of Judgement Attunement. Precisely why has been s u b ject to many a quiet discussion among Dominicans, especially since the word came down the line that Judgement was to continue keeping a close watch on the Gabrielite. It has been noted that Edward's behavior since then has seemed to be somewhat more restrained - all things considered - but there hasn't been a fundamental change in attitude. It remains insouciant, trying and prone to exhibit inappropriate behavior at inappropriate times. Of course, all of that is consistent with the Word it holds... ===== Liber Licentiae Moeticae: http://www.stormloader.com/users/moelane/innomine.html Last updated 02/24/02(this is usually way out of date) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
