--------------------GEV List Thingy, May 4th-------------------- From: aew@pease1.unh.edu (Allan Wright) To: hcobb@fly2.berkeley.edu Hello, Please include me in your Ogre/GEV mailing list. I've been a closet fan for about 5 years and have some minis. I once tried to convert it to a hexless miniature game - but the gev double movement didn;t seem to quite work as well as with hexes. Thanks, Al ___ [The game is now offically a minis game, and the GEV freed from the stacking limits of Ogre Classic or even GEV is able to put up a concentrated punch. If I was allowed to fiddle for "balance", I'd allow indirect fire units (Howitzers, Missile Tanks and Heavy Weapon Infantry) to declare "covering fire", at the start of their own turn, and neither move nor fire during their own turn to get a special fire phase immediately after the enemy's next move phase. -HJC] ___ From: gmcquary@ingres.com (George F. McQuary) To: hcobb@fly2.berkeley.edu Subject: Is there a Unix based version of Ogre? I've been pointed to you as someone who knows a lot about the games Ogre/GEV. Do you know of any Unix based version of the game? I remember when I worked for SCO there was one out, but I haven't seen it since. Thank you, George McQuary ___ [Yes, but you do not want it, as it isn't very good and infringes. Instead, might I interest you in Ogre Minies adapted to run over the internet? (I leave the blurb to the folks who are working on it...) -HJC] Henry J. Cobb hcobb@fly2.berkeley.edu, SFB Tyrant-for-life "Stop the near-insanity!" -Crow
