From: Chris Camfield ------------------------------ From: garth.getgen@genie.com Subject: Unauthorized OGRE games Along the same lines as what Mr Steve Jackson mentioned about treadmarks and all, I noticed on the "Aide de Camp" web page that they can't do >ANY< maps from Avilon Hill games. That made me wonder, tho, if SJ Games might consider doing up "real" ADC maps of SJG games such as OGRE/GEV and put them on the SJG web page. I think both companies would benefit in the long run. Plus it'd give me an excuse to shell out the $79 for ADC. Which brings up a side question (non-OGRE): does anyone know of a good map drawing program for Windows?? I want to create maps for Roll Play Games and such, and I don't think ADC can actually print maps out. Thanks. Garth L. Getgen SSgt USAF ------------------------------ From: aardvark@juno.com Subject: Attacking at less than 1-2 odds? Hello, My friend recently purchased the Deluxe Ogre/G.E.V. edition and his Combat Results Table looks ever so slightly different than mine from the original pocket box edition of G.E.V. The only significant change I've noticed so far is that the second line of text on my CRT states: "Attacks at less than 1-2 are always NE." This line does *not* exist anywhere on his CRT. Is this a rule change? I had planned to take advantage of this fact by using one of my Heavy Tanks to overrun a group of his Light GEVs. Even though his LGEVs would get the first shot, their Attack strength of 1 would completely bounce off my tank's Defense strength of 3, and therefore I could repeat this tactic indefinitely at zero risk to my Heavy Tanks. :-) Andrew "Warmonger" L'Amoureux, aardvark@juno.com "Mankind has grown strong through eternal struggles and will only perish through eternal peace." -- name withheld ----- [Less than 1-2 has always been no effect. -HJC] ------------------------------ From: fish Subject: Posting of Shockwave units? I keep hearing tantalizing bits about such fun units as Superheavy tanks and Cruise missiles... alas, the rules don't bloody exist anymore, and I don't have Ogre Minis (yet, it's coming...). So would it be possible for someone to post/upload the stats for the units in Shockwave, or would that be a Bad Thing, punishible by lawyers and men in dark coats with no sense of humor at my door? -- fish ----- [Only SJG can do that, and they seem unmotivated to release the material on paper or web. -HJC] ------------------------------ From: Chris Camfield Subject: Badlands, anyone? After I'm done my current PBeM game (of Globbo!!! :-) I'd be interested in trying the Badlands scenario for Ogre if anyone else has the relevant materials. (Badlands is an Ogre scenario from one of the later SJG Space Gamers, which I have at home but whose number I forget. It plays on the Necromancer map, which has multiple elevation levels.)
