============ OGREverse list, Dec 20th (Last: Dec 16th) ============= ===== General & Electronic Ogre From: "Denny Graver" ===== Why I hate Militia From: The Cobb Unit ------------------------------ From: "Denny Graver" Subject: General & Electronic Ogre First of all, thanks for the stream of interesting ideas. Secondly, I have just discovered WEBRPG http://199.172.2.114/ An excellent aide to playing OGRE or GEV over the web. Dice rolls, chat, etc. It would seem to me to be an excellent addition to the Electronic Ogre arsenal. ------------------------------ From: The Cobb Unit Subject: Why I hate Militia Superheavytank rumbling through the woods with a squad of militia riding on top. Tanker: (over the intercom) "Hey it says here you militia are tougher than Superheavytanks." Militiaman: "You'll see." Tanker: "Hey, how come you guys are putting on sunglasses?" Just then a cruise missile goes off six inches away. The superheavy rolls a five on a two to one and vaporises. The militia squad suffer no attack at all and walk away after brushing the dust of the tank off their homespun (un)uniforms. Hey Steve, how about a minus two inch adjustment for militia against cruise missile explosions? At nine inches unprotected flesh in the open suffers a 1-1, but that sounds about right. Also, militia aren't explicitly listed on the Missile Interception Chart, so how about 12+ for them? They'd still be the most cost effective weapon against cruise missiles (that come within range). Here's the percent interception per VP of unit cost against cruise missiles at various ranges: (Assuming 12+ militia squads for 1/3 VP each and Heavy Weapon Missiles get the 9+, ignoring their one-shot nature.) Unit Short 30-44 45-59 60+ Militia 8.3 25.0 50.0 83.3 MI 4.2 8.3 13.9 20.8 Heavy WPNS 6.9 10.4 14.6 18.1 LtTank 0.9 2.8 5.6 9.3 (Or LGEV) +Militia 1.7 5.0 10.0 16.7 +Infantry 2.2 5.0 8.9 13.9 MisTnk 1.4 2.8 4.6 6.9 (SuperHeavy also) LaserTower 1.5 2.3 3.2 4.0 Naturally this completely ignores the frontage each unit covers. -HJC Henry J.
