As part of my on going campaign produce virtual miniatures [grin], I've offically moth balled V_MAP development so that I can concentrate on creating a virtual sand table program and some assorted models for it. If this goes off as planned, it should provide a viable alternative for Ogre Miniatures players that are isolated for other gamers, want to create custom figures, or just play with a wide variety of units that are beyond their budget. I'm building this also in support of my space combat game, FOTS: Tactical Command, and it should also be backwards compatible with V_MAP game sets. If you're still interesting in finding a version of V_MAP that has the Ogre/GEV counters and maps bundled with it, check no futher that the SJG gameaid archive. [Ignore the message about the FTP service being broken. I just checked the link to V_MAP.] -- More news when I make it, TAZ ===== From: Sethkimmel@aol.com Subject: re: Battlesuit Minis > 5) Last but not least a way to combine Starship Troopers and Battlesuit which version; the original version, which IMNSHO is much better, or the movie version? ===== [While I am not much for repression and censorship, I think everything that needs to be said about the movie with the shower scene and associated products as it touches on the Ogreverse has basically already been said. -HJC] ============================== From: Servitor@aol.com Subject: Flunky says: OGRE vs. Starship Troopers > [If you've got a copy of the first edition Ogre Book then your last > request is answered. I believe that's actually OGRE and Starship Troopers, not Battlesuit. And you can read the original article at my website (reprinted with permission, natch) at: http://hometown.aol.com/Servitor/Ogreindex/OGRTROOP.htm Uhm, we are talking the original 70's game from AH, not that waste of cardstock based on the movie, right? Here's a thought sure to provoke some flames aimed at me... I wonder if SJ Games would consider licensing OGRE/G.E.V. to Wizkids to make a "click-base" version? Since Mr. Chapman is bound to read this, I would be interested in hearing his thoughts on the matter. Site update coming real soon. No, really. Please stop laughing... John Hurtt (Servitor@aol.com) -Yes, I'm a Game Geek. How did you know? -Please visit my website at: http://hometown.aol.com/Servitor/Ogreindex/ogrindex.htm "Walk softly and carry a big stick" Personally, I prefer a taser. Lots more fun... ===== [I had remembered seeing that somewhere online, but I wasn't able to find a reference on the SJGames site. And here I'm the guy who volunteered to keep track of all the Ogre stuff online. Speaking of stuff online, SJG just had a big announcement that they've licensed out GURPS to be the basis of a MMORPG. Just think how much quicker it would be to do GEV as a massively multiplayer online game, if only some game company could be talked into it. You could set it in the Factory States Era, where things are somewhat chaotic anyway and then the players (if they're playing humans...) need to decide if they'll remain loyal to the computer complex or if they're really commie mutant traitors. -HJC] ============================== List Moderator: Henry J.
