There are some aspects of the In Nomine universe that are called canon. In order to maintain a consistent worldview among the numerous authors and editors, these rulings and world components are 'official' for things like tournaments. Everything printed (with the corresponding errata and the FAQ) are canon, as are the official rulings of Steve Jackson and the line editor (Beth McCoy) -- all of which should either enter print or the FAQ as well.

On the other hand, none of this is set in stone! To a great degree, all the canon material is just to help keep us straight and should only be viewed as a jumping-off point for your own campaign.

In order to help this, there are areas of the In Nomine universe that have not been defined and will not be defined in order to preserve creative room for people who like to run 'canon' campaigns.

The list below gives some of the various areas and, possibly, an explanation why it has entered the RDAoDaU list. For more of what has been dubbed "Canon Doubt and Uncertainty," consult the Game Master's Guide.

      • Jesus' nature and very existence.
      • Ditto for most other Messiahs.
      • Are celestial beings just super-ethereals?
      • The nature of God.
      • Free will (for anybody).
      • Does Essence come in different 'flavors'?
      • In general, Lucifer's abilities and the magnitude of his power. (i.e. People know what he has done, because he's been seen to do it before, but they don't know what he could do.)
