So You Want to Be A Volunteer...

We need volunteers to help us at conventions. Here's what we're looking for and what you can expect to get out of the whole deal. Your mission, should you choose to accept it...

Where We Need Your Support

DragonCon - Atlanta, GA, June 26-29
DexCon - East Rutherford, NJ, July 2-6
Origins - Columbus, OH, July 17-20
GenCon - Milwaukee, WI, August 7-10

Duties

Basic stuff. Booth setup and teardown, answering questions, smiling, hypnotizing the weak-willed into buying our games, smiling, running demos, smiling, toting barges and lifting bales (as long as it doesn't mortally offend the union convention staff, assuming they catch us), looking surly parents in the eye and claiming with a straight face that no, really, INWO promotes the strong family values that made this country what it is today, smiling, et cetera.

What's in it for me?

Well, for every hour you work the booth, you get $10.00 worth of product (retail). Best of all, if you send me advance notice of what you want, we might be able to bring it with us so that you can simply wander away with it after your shift.

We do have a few requirements, and they are detailed here.

Requirements

Schedules:
You must show up fifteen minutes before your scheduled time to allow for shift changes.
There is nothing wrong with working more than your scheduled shift. Heck, if you want to, you can work the entire convention with us. We don't mind. :-)
If you have a particular schedule you want to work, or you have a particular game you want to run at the booth (this is still working) then we need to know. If you prefer morning shifts or evening shifts, we need to know.
Dress Code:
All booth representatives are required to dress neatly and cleanly in a professional manner. T shirts will not be allowed unless they are clean and neat. Ripped or torn jeans will not be allowed, nor will sweat clothes. This doesn't mean that you can't wear jeans; just be clean and neat.
Alertness:
All booth representatives are expected to be able to answer questions about the products as well as sell them. In order to do this, you have to be alert. If someone does not seem to be able to carry their load, they will be asked to leave and get some sleep. If you are asked to leave, please do not take offense. Your health is more important than the booth.
Money:
All people who work the booth will be required to handle money. Receipt books will be issued, and you will have to use them. You will receive instructions before working the booth on how to cash out.
Compensation:
You know you want it. Each volunteer will receive $10.00 in product for every hour served. If you send me a wish list, we'll make every effort to bring the product you desire with us. You may pick up your product after the show, before tear down.
