Growlers is the very first "Forcebook" for FASA's "big-box-o'-miniatures" game, VOR: The Maelstrom. And it's a good choice -- for visual wallop, you can't beat the humongous, muscle-bound, fanged-and-taloned Growlers.

Growlers come from the planet Primordia, which was no picnic spot before it got sucked into the Maelstrom along with everything else inhabiting the VOR universe. This is probably a good thing, though, because that tough upbringing made the Growlers expert at adapting to harsh conditions, cooperating for mutual survival, and giving absolutely no quarter. These guys are big, tough, mean, and ugly. Especially ugly.

But ugly is good, as long as it is "cool" ugly, and the Growlers have "cool" ugly down. That's the reason they're the stars of the main box game art, as well as most of the promo art FASA has churned out for the game thus far. And while the main rulebook gave you what you needed to get started -- barely -- the Growlers forcebook completes the picture and lets VOR players really put these guys through their paces on the tabletop.

After the perfectly serviceable (and by now obligatory) fiction vignette to open the book, Growlers gives you the general lowdown on their physiology and way of life, followed by an in-depth look at the four major Growler breeds -- Razorbacks, Bluefangs, Whitetusks, and Fireguts. . . .
