It's an old story that while miniatures add a great deal to a game, acquiring them is more than a little expensive, and finding time to paint all of them is almost impossible. One solution is to use paper counters or standups. They are easy to use and transport, and they are far less costly than even plastic miniatures.

Both Counter Collections offer full-color counters that can be used with any fantasy game, though the monsters are all taken from the MM. They are printed on light cardstock and partially die-cut for ease of removal with few traces of joining. There is no wasted space at all in either collection. The counters come in the standard sizes given in the MM for each creature. Each set also has an 8-page inclusion staple-bound to the cover.

The Counter Packs are 8.5" × 4.5", the same size as many folio adventures. Each also has an 8-page insert, as well as the counters. The Pack counters seem to be on a slightly heavier cardstock, and the printing is glossier, giving them an almost embossed look. The major distinction is that none of the Pack counter sheets are die-cut.

Claudio Pozas's art is clear and clean, and shows up well even at the standard 1"-square counter size. His depictions of the standard M . . .
