For those that still believe that fantasy RPGs should in some way involve dungeon bashes or crawls, the Swords and Sorcery Studio has been fulfilling their wants with a number of adventures. These include the "G" series, which reaches number five with Chaos Rising. Designed for a party of four to six adventurers of 10th to 12th level, it is set in a unique location, the Devil's Finger. Atop this 750-foot tall spindling spire of rock is the citadel, a Dwarven fortress and the last known location of the soul amulet of a forgotten demon prince, The Faceless One. Within a few days, the moon will raise blood red and reveal the location of this artifact within a vault of solid black obsidian. With the fortress long abandoned, anybody could get on top of the Devil's Finger and locate the key that could gain them entry. One of these is the evil Lord Roab Blackheart, who will use the amulet as the means to spread more carnage and bloodletting. What the player characters are tasked to do by a benefactor -- who should have played a part in the campaign previously -- is to get on top of the Devil's Finger, find the key, get inside the citadel, and stop anyone from obtaining the amulet. This can be played from both angles -- the benefactor and party could be either good or evilly aligned.

G5, Chaos Rising is well laid out in the line style . . .
