One of the d20 System phenomenon's successes has been the rise of Mongoose Publishing to become not just a major publisher of d20 System products, but the United Kingdom's leading and most prolific of publishers. In its wake come two new British companies, both launching their first releases at the last GenCon Europe, held this last Easter. One, Myriador Ltd, brought out two scenarios, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain and Caverns of the Snow Witch, both actually d20 System adaptations of Fighting Fantasy solo adventure books first published some 20 years ago. The other, Bottled Imp Games, released just the one book, containing all-new material, and the first in planned quartet known as Darkness Rising.

The Lords of the Night: Vampires takes another look at a staple ingredient of both the horror and the fantasy: the vampire. This is not an exploration of the possible various types of these horrific predators presented simply as a monster collection, though the DM could treat it as such and dip into the contents of this supplement for little bits and pieces to add to his own campaigns. Instead, it aims to provide a milieu or family of related vampires that can be used all together to add a dark and dangerous thread to an existing campaign.
