If your tastes run to flying the skull and crossbones as your flag and giving no quarter to your enemy, then the last 12 months have been rich in terms of pirate plunder. This is especially true if you have no objection to the d20 System as there have been three supplements published under those mechanics. Avalanche Press, despite the tasteless cover, provided a surprisingly decent historical treatment in Black Flags: Piracy in the Caribbean, while Living Imagination Inc.'s Pirates! more a fantastic take on the subject plugged easily into the high fantasy of Dungeons & Dragons Third Edition. Those preferring to avoid the d20 System might find the pleasingly fast and simple Bloode Island - Swashbuckling Adventures 1PG -- recently released by Deep7 as part of their Shriek!/Bloode Island Double Feature -- more to their liking. (Bloode Island is also available in an expanded version using the XPG mechanics). And then there is the third d20 System treatment of all things piratical . . .

Skull & Bones: Swashbuckling Horror in the Golden Age of Piracy is the second release in Green Ronin's "Mythic Vistas" line, . . .
