Barbarossa: Army Group Center, for those few of you who couldn't guess from the title, is GMT Games' treatment of the German invasion of the Soviet Union beginning on June 22, 1941. The third in GMT's Eastern Front Series, B:AGC covers the initial attacks along the central portion of the border covered by the German Army Group Center, including Guderian's units. The two prior games in the series, Typhoon! and Barbarossa: Army Group South, covered the fall drive for Moscow and the initial invasion along the southern border, respectively. Though the maps for each game overlap, there do not yet appear to be rules for linking them to form a vast campaign, but that may wait until the fourth installment, Barbarossa: Army Group North. Not that anyone would have the space to play such a campaign, I know I wouldn't, but it would be nice to have the option.

With four maps, and 1120 counters, B:AGC must be considered a big game, though by no means a monster on the scale of DAK or Enemy at the Gates. The game breaks down into eight full scenarios plus a learning/tutorial scenario, ranging in size from a few counters and part of one map to the campaign game, the whole enchilada taking up four maps and all of the units. These scenarios can last from three to 40 turns. Each turn represents two days of game time, each map hex spans five miles, and units depict anything from a battalion to a . . .
