The latest offering from Chris Clark and the wacky crew at Inner City Games is Bug Strife, a miniatures game of combat between insects. "And it absolutely has nothing to do with a certain movie from Disney which has a similar name. Honest. As far as you know," states Clark. This game follows in the large footsteps of his wildly successful War P.I.G.s rules (released in 1998 just prior to GenCon).

Bug Strife comes in a 36-page, digest-sized rulebook, with a selection of combat cards (you'll need to cut these apart). It is designed for two or more players. You'll need a few accessories to play, most notably a selection of plastic bugs (available from your local discount store) and a few dice. You'll also want to get something to represent the walls of your hive as you build it. They recommend dominoes as an inexpensive choice; I've found that the wooden blocks from a Jenga game are equally useful and thrifty. Another thing that is needed is something to represent plants on the table. This can be anything from real foliage from your yard to aquarium plants to pieces of green foam.

The game can be played on nearly any size surface, from a small table that is 2' x 2' to the table we used, which was 6' long and 3' wide. From our experience in play, the fewer the players, the less space you want to use. Two or three square feet per player appears to be a good rule of thumb. Set up is . . .
